Worst Trigger

Yeah My VP 70 soured me on the future of Hi cap plastic guns for 10 years , until I got a Glock 17 in 1990 :)
The trigger was HEAVY and L O N G

In my pistol collection it's probably a Ruger p89. The trigger stacking in DA is terrible and the break is probably upwards of 20 lbs. I have a P90 that feels just fine in DA and is vastly superior overall. My Russian Mak is poor, and perhaps a CZ52 taking 3rd place.

I'm lucky in that I haven't had any truly awful-feeling triggers. Despite my desire for a Nagant revolver...
So mine was my first carry gun, a S&W 469. (Edit: I traded it in for a CZ PCR, which was divinely inspired by comparison.)
DA was solid but not 'stiff,' a good-ish carry medium. SA was the same, it just took weight off the first 3/4 of the pull.
The problem was the release.
So pull the trigger. No, further. All the way back. You there?
Okay, now apply more pressure.
Now it fires. It didn't move any more, it just needed squeezed into the grip like a carnival machine.

The gun wasn't inaccurate if you rested it on the bench, but between the trigger and the size and shape of the grip I could just about hit a barn if I walked in and closed the door behind me.

The Colt All American is prolly the worst trigger I have ever felt.

I forgot about this one. I actually got to fire a prototype that Colt was trying to sell to the DOJ when they were switching to 9MM. Myself and one other Firearm Instructor were allowed to shoot and evaluate it for our opinions. The DOJ didn't buy any. Of course dozens of evaluators were given the same opportunity but the consensus was:YEECCCH! Bad sights, crummy grip, and the trigger! Take a stick and draw it towards you through heavy gravel is the only way to describe it. Thanks for the menory.

I think that somehow I must have gotten the best Colt 2000 ever made, because although the trigger is nothing I would describe as good, I learned how to cope with it somehow and found the gun fairly accurate and pleasant to shoot on the range. As a defensive pistol, when under stress with the adrenaline pumping? Probably not so good.

But crummy grip, as per Terry G above? Nope, to me, the grip was well shaped and comfortable. Hands vary a lot, I guess.

My friend back in PA was a firearms instructor and used an NYPD surplus S&W 5946 SAO with a 12lb trigger pull to teach trigger control and staging to students. A lousy carry gun for some NYC cop, a PITA to shoot more than a few rounds at a target with, but a very effective teaching tool nonetheless.

I thought bad trigger pulls on carry guns were sold as one of the guns "safety features"?
.

So true in DA/SA pistols. It keeps people from shooting themselves in the foot. The people that shoot themselves in the foot need all the help they can get.

CZ75, considering it was supposed to be a SA trigger. But the original Ruger LC9 was pretty bad. The newer LC9s is much better.

The grips on the prototype weren't the same as the ones the gun was sold with. I'm glad you like yours, probably worth some real $$. I'm just glad we got other choices.,

I really don't mind a double action trigger as long as it isn't catchy & breaks cleanly. The gun I had when I decided to start carrying was a Ruger P94. The DA trigger was long & about 12 pounds I think but I could live with it because it was a smooth pull. In all honesty the single action bothered me more because of the take up before you got to the trigger pull.

I change my vote for worst trigger. I posted about my Rohm 14GS in another thread and remembered the trigger pull on that little beast. I really don't know how Hinckley got off those six shots so fast. Guy must have more muscles in his trigger finger than I have in my whole arm.
