I have a Rossi 720 from 94. And it is built solid and it's a shooter. I saw a model 88 and it's built around the same time. It's going for $275. Gun is like new.
Anyone own or shoot one.
I'm thinking about getting. If it's any where near what my 720 is. It's well worth the cost

I use to have a Model 88 and it made for a decent 5 shot .38 Special kit gun. It was S&W J frame size and featured stainless steel construction with a 3" barrel and a semi-adjustable rear sight. I carried it in an Uncle Mike's nylon holster and it was a great companion for many a walk in the backwoods. At the time S&W didn't make a version of this gun with their Model 60.

I had one of the Rossi 5- shot .38’s from that era. It wasn’t a bad gun, fit and finish were fine but the cylinder face was cut slightly crooked.

When it heated up after rapidly firing a cylinder or two, the edge of the cylinder would rub against the forcing cone and it would drag... fire another cylinder or so and it would seize up until it cooled. :(

If it wasn’t for that annoying tendency I probably would still have it.

stay safe.

Just picked up a Model 88, haven't had it to the range yet. Looks to be decently built but cannot yet comment on reliability.

I've got three or four Rossi 5-shot .38 specials, 2" and 3". All are fun little shooters. Nothing super-special, but reliable, reasonably accurate, comfortable, and solid.

(I'm kind of a sucker for that sort of gun.)

I have one Rossi a Model 68 in stainless with the 3 inch barrel. Nice little .38spl. I have carried it a few times and loaned it to my daughter-in-law when my son was working night shift. She couldn't operate a semi-auto pistol. She ended up with a little Armsco M206 hammerless that she liked better.

Those 720's are fine revolvers, indeed.

My full-sized Rossi 357 (971?) was also a fine revolver.

I did own a Model 88, which happened to have problems. I bought it new in the early 90's.

I at one time owned 2 Model 971's with the compensated barrels. I also owned at the same time 3 Model 720's with adjustable sights. All were built in the Interarms time period and all were great guns. I have no experience with the M88, but if it checks out I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. My friend at the gun shop handed me a M720 to do an action job on. (I was doing his gun cleaning and repairs) I was pleased with this gun, but he wouldn't sell it to me. It was his. It took a bit of time but I found the other 4 guns listed over a couple years. I have been selling out these past years being confined to a wheel chair and mother nature knocking at my door. I have one M720 left but that will not go until I do. Bottom line is if that M88 sells reasonable, go for it.
