12 Gauge 700-X confusion

Looking at load data for 12 gauge on the Hodgdon website. For AA hulls, lead shot, 1oz loads using REM 209 primers and WAA12SL wads, they list 4 different “maximum” loads for 700-X (15, 16.5, 18, and 19 grains). Is this their odd way of saying 15 grain minimum load and 19 grain max? Or am I missing something important? I ask because their pistol data lists a min and max as one “load”, but on this shot shell they list each max as it’s own load

They're showing you different loads at different velocities. You'll find this in shotgun recipes where a specific velocity or Drams equivalent is targeted rather than max pressure. Do pay attention to the listed peak pressure, especially with lighter payloads in cold weather or semi automatic. Sometimes more pressure is a good thing. You are correct on 15-19 grain range. If you look up a slow burning powder, you'll start to see holes at the high end of charges where one powder may reach max pressure while another will achieve higher velocity.

Thanks for the help! I kinda figured it was something like that, but wanted to make sure before I began loading ammo
 
700x is a fine powder then. For 1 oz of #8 I would work the 1200fps load. If you shoot a gas operated semi, you might look at a faster load. If inertia operation, experiment. You may have to go to 1 1/8 for proper function
 
1oz @ 1200 will break any target on the trap/skeet/5-stand/sporting clays course IF you do your part (which isn't always easy!)
I have two Beretta 12ga gas guns, both work flawlessly with my 3/4oz loads running 1300. They functioned fine at 1210, but too much unburned residue; at 1300 perfectly clean and light recoil. 3/4oz is a 28 gauge level load and it gives me 533 rounds from a bag of shot.

Plus one on that. I grew up using that with 7 1/2 shot as a do all load.
It killed quite a few rabbits, squirrels and clays.
