What in the world is going on with Turkish handgun imports? I’m looking for the Tristar S120 in black or chrome. I’ve been hitting most online dealers with no luck. One of Bud’s Guns stores is close by (Greenville Ky) and I haven’t seen either in stock there or online. Any ideas guys?

Mmmmmm, deteriorating relations with Turkeys Dictator Erdogan, economic sanctions, and international restrictions on small arms import/export are all taking a toll.

Honestly, with all Putins shenanigans over the last few years, Im surprised Wolf and Tula ammo is still being imported........

Our local Academy has the Stoeger ST9 in stock, and a couple Canik TP series. Atwood's, a farm and ranch store, has the Girsan Regard and MC 28. Maybe it's just the Turks that aren't imported by bigger companies like EAA or Century.

I'll admit, I had to look at the date of thread to make sure this is a current question.

How about the world-wide Corona Virus pandemic, which affects pretty much everything, from raw materials, to manufacturing, to shipping, etc.

Oh, yeah, let me add the death of George Floyd, riots in the streets, and a Presidential Election (that looks like elected an anti-gun Democrat into office), to crank up demand well above normal, while production is hampered.

I can understand the virus factoring into a slowdown and politics slowing down, but a solid year and not a in stock CZ clone to be found. There’s pretty much been a supply of the Canik TP9 models (Turkish) around and cheap shotguns but the CZ clone is the one I’m after and searching online almost every night for a year they don’t exist. Tristar seems to be the main name they’re being brought in under but just recently Bud’s added them in with Canik or Canik55.

Here are some other examples of unavailable guns

I'd like to buy a Wilson Combat Beretta 92 https://shopwilsoncombat.com/Order-Beretta_Wilson-Collaboration-Pistols/products/1127/
- all out of stock for months

How about an AR from Wilson Combat https://shopwilsoncombat.com/Rifles/products/1357/
- not something I really track, but they have none available, and prior to the Corona Virus there were dozens available

Or a Langdon PX4 https://www.langdontactical.com/products/guns/px4-series/
- out of stock for a couple of months

How about some Federal, Winchester, Remington, Speer, etc. .45 Auto ammo from Lucky Gunner https://www.luckygunner.com/handgun/45-acp-ammo

If you got the gun you want, do you have a source for ammo?

It's not just Turkish firearms, it is almost everything gun related.

Edit to add: Back in January of 2019, my plans were to get a Gen 4 G34 in the summer of 2020. I've never owned a Glock, but the G34 was the one Glock I found interesting. Then the Corona Virus hit, the George Floyd riots happened, and then Glock dropped the Gen 4 line. Bummer for me, but that's life.

I’m set for life on ammo. My wife and I started buying ammo with every trip to Walmart back in the early 2000’s.
Yes I realize this is a far reaching situation with almost all firearms and ammo being affected, so again....with all the models in the CZ clone line of firearms there hasn’t been one in that line show up for sale.

Why not buy the real deal? The price difference has gotten less and less.
My local gun shop, which normally has a good selection of most stuff, at last check was down to a single Beretta 92/M9 model, approximately five Glocks, and various other brands in small quantities, but they had a display case full of nearly every metal framed CZ75 variant from the base-line models to the high end competition models.

I have two CZ 75’s. The Omega model and the Police BD model. I just want a clone to “tinker” with. The last time I saw a price on a clone it was half of what the real deal is selling for currently if you can find any available.

Because of the huge popularity of the Canik striker fired pistols I think they have reduced production of the CZ-75 style pistols.

Shoot Point Blank near me has cases full of Caniks, and a wall full of AR's. No ammo though unless you want some 32 S&W Long or similar.

Our local shops are pretty picked over, and will generally only sell you ammo with a pistol purchase. A couple of the Turk 1911A1s have passed thru' one place, and if they are any indications, they make great stuff.
One followed me home; beautifully fit and finished.

Have you been to Whittakers Gun shop in Owneboro ? Its less than an hour from Uncle Lee's in Greenville. Whittakers has a huge supply of all kinds.

I think one reason that Turkish guns may be selling well is that THEY WORK! Most of what I see coming oout of Turkey are clones or copies of guns from the other countries that already have the bugs worked out and are known to work well. My STOEGER Cougar pistols are my favorite for shooting .40 S&W and have proven as reliable as my BERETTA Cougar. The CANICK'S that I have examined appear to be well made copies of the GLOCK guns and came with positive reviews from owners. The CZ-75 clone, well everyone knows how good the CZ's can be.

When I lived in CANADA, you could order a NORINCO (Chinese made) copy of an AR-15 or SIG 229 for less than half the cost of a real one. I never tried one, but copying already proven guns can be a winning business plan, as long as you can keep the quality under control.

tercel89, yep, been there and keep a eye on their website. Whittaker’s ain’t what it used to be. They’ve gotten too big for their britches and they don’t have 10% of what they had. When they moved out of the pole barn next door they messed up.

I and some of my friends have Turkish guns of both the CZ clone and striker types and they all work very well. My friend's Tri-Star T-120 is pretty much the equal to his CZ SP-01, and taken apart, the machining is better in the T-120. Not by a lot, but it's there. Probably the "worst" of them all is my SAR sr38, an S&W 596 clone that is a little lacking in the lockup department. It shoots fine, but that wiggle is not exactly a plus. Other than that, I would say the only negatives about them in general is a lot of them are cerakoated and my one friend's gun has some wear on it that isn't awe inspiring, but it's had a lot of rounds through it and is carried in a Kydex holster a lot.
