Oddball, in Kelly's Heroes

This will be a hair obscure: SGT to PFC "I think you got'im." As a hint, this line is used twice: "Der Krieg is forbeit."

:scrutiny: From your quoted line, I think you're refering to THE BIG RED ONE, with Lee Marvin. BTW, the quote is "Der Krieg ist vorbei." ("The war is over.") It was spoken first at the beginning by a soldier with a WW1 pickelhaube type helmet who was lost in "no man's land," who was bayonet ed by Lee Marvin's character, who did not know it was past armistice.

"You ever play Russian roulette? Thing is, most people put the gun to the temple. Well, that's just stupid."
That was in "2 Guns"
As was "You think I missed? When have you ever seen me miss?"

No one has gotten message-332.

Hint: It is kind of a war movie, but not a war movie.

I couldn't find the post you're referring to because they're not numbered on my phone. Can you re-post and I'll give it a shot.

Ok, without quoting the quote... A guy recites Psalms 25, verse 2 just prior to taking a shot. Movie and character?

It is kind of a war movie, but not a war movie.
The kind of war that never ceases between nations.
The civilized kind, where both men know why they are there, both volunteering. A series that was not formulaic, but nearly chivalrous.
Kind of...;)
But I can’t answer because I don’t know any good quotes from them, even though my childhood was spent watching them with my dad.:)

Fire up the NetFlix, boy! It’s time to watch some Albert Broccoli!
I’ll teach ya how to hide a jet in a horse trailer!:D

Darn, I thought he said #322, a favorite rifle powder, Freudian slip.:p

My wife and I went to see Kelly’s Heroes the same night I asked her to marry me in 1971. We're still married, and we wore out the VHS tape long ago. Now we have it on DVD, so we know that movie and its theme song - Burning Bridges by the Mike Curb Congregation.
Thanks for the link, and the reminder of that awesome musical opening -- best movie intro ever with them driving the captured German officer in the jeep back through enemy lines with that song blasting. (of course, I wasn't looking to get married when I saw the movie in a downtown movie house - don't have those anymore -- was only a freshman ...) RIP Telly Savalas & Carroll O'Connor

Here's one from a cheesy b-movie from the early 90s: (probably very obscure)

Main character: "I'm looking for a really big gun which holds a lot of bullets."

Gun salesman: "God bless you, young man."

MC: "I always wanted a gun..."

GC: "Is this what you had in mind? It's a 9mm Beretta. 15 in the clip, 1 in the pipe."

MC: :"Got one that holds more?"

GS: "No."

MC: "I'll take two."

I know it can't be this because the era is wrong, but it sounds a little like the dialogue in Taxi Driver (from what I remember.)

Kind of an obscure movie, but this line from the movie always struck me as interesting. The back story. A soldier is on trial in the American west during the Indian wars. During the trial the prosecutor is inferring an officer let the prisoner escape on purpose.

Speaking to the Jury:

"Lieutenant Cantrell, with a reputation as a dead shot with all weapons going back to his cadet days on the Hudson somehow misses with his service pistol at 50 yards. A miss mind you that allowed the prisoner to escape."

I know it's a movie, but the concept that making a shot at 50 yards at a man running away on horseback with a Colt SAA should be an easy shot always struck me as odd. Maybe for some, but that would be a lucky shot if I made it.

Hint. Lt. Cantrell is played by Jeffery Hunter.

I can't find a direct quote for this so it may not be 100% accurate. I'm working from memory

"200 yards with a 45-60, with a trajectory like a rainbow? If I'd made that shot it would have been the best shot I ever made. And the dirtiest trick I ever done."

From a really good, under rated Western.

Way more obscure. Hint: the main character is played by Christian Slater.
The ridiculousness of the movie had him walking out of a San Francisco gunshop (when I lived in the Bay Area, there was only one gun store in S.F., in the Mission District) WITH his newly acquired firearms -- the SAME DAY.

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me

I'm pretty sure that's Private Ryan, but I only saw it once, in the theaters, and haven't been able to bring myself to watch it again.

I cheated but am only saying anything because Milla Jovovich :)

Here is a follow-up quote to my earlier post (386), which I don't think has been answered, yet.

"The M1 rifle is divided into three main groups! The trigger housing group! The stock group! And the barrel and receiver group! It is a clip fed, gas-operated, air cooled, semi-automatic shoulder weapon! It has four forward movements and ten rearward movements! Some of the characteristics of the M1 rifle are: weight nine point five pounds! muzzle velocity twenty-six hundred to twenty-eight hundred feet per second!..."

" Let them handle it, Mr. Beckworth? Captured weaponry: Chicom K50-Chinese Communists! SKS Soviet made carbine-Russian Communists! Ammunition? Czechslovakian made. Czech Communists! No, Sir, Mr. Beckworth, it dosen't take a lead weight to fall on me, or a hit from one of those weapons to recognize that what's involved here is Communist domination of the World!.

Apocolyse Now?
