I have looked everywhere for Tokarev ammo and found ridiculous prices like a dollar per round and 80 cents per round. I was wondering if anybody had some to sell for a good price.

Got a preference between commercial and military surplus? I have gobs of Yugoslavian and Polish (and a few Romanian) boxes of 7.62x25 and they do feel substantially more peppy than new commercial stuff... but it's all corrosive and the clean up takes some of the fun out of it, much like cleaning after black powder.
If you go this route, understand some of the Romanian stuff has cracked necks and unfortunately (but to a far less degree) the Polish fodder. Go for the Yugo 7.62x25 if you have the option.

If you keep your eyes peeled, you'll sometimes find recently manufactured non-corrosive PPU, Wolf Gold or S&B (if lucky) available at an agreeable price.

Ammoseek.com is what I often use to find something that isn't exactly easy to find. They update it regularly.

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, I checked on 7.62x25 using Ammoseek and, at the time, the least expensive was $1.60/round. I should perhaps sell some myself.

SGammo.com has a spam can of Romanian, which is good stuff, but extremely expensive. They also have commercial as well as the hard primer stuff which is like shooting rubber primers. (2-3 strikes to set it off)
I just sent my Lee dies back to the factory to have them fixed. I have some brass and some 32 caliber bullets which may work fine in my TT. (See my thread on "USELESS GUNS.) You know the price is out of this world when I go back to re-loading 7.62x25.

I'm considering selling my m57, the local gun store pretty much salivated when I said that I had about 500 rounds too

That's.....$800 in ammo at current prices. Holy crap

yeah, I just need some ammo for it that's all that matters. A gun without ammo is useless. I just don't want to pay a buck a round.

If you have some larger stores around, go look at them. There's a big shop here that is mostly barren right now; the crowds came in like locusts after the election. BUT- big shops tended to stock a lot of calibers, and the panic has been predominantly 9mm-45 acp-223/556. They might have a few boxes of Tok ammo around. In my large local store, they did have some, along with some other stuff, off to one side. 38 Super, etc. $25-30 a box.

And keep in mind- 7.62 Tokarev is physically similar to 7.63 Mauser, the difference is that Tok is hotter. You can NOT shoot Tok from a Mauser, but you CAN shoot Mauser from a Tok (it's going to be milder). So you can search for that, too.

"the difference is that Tok is hotter. You can NOT shoot Tok from a Mauser"

Internet myth, but in this case it is irrelevant. ;)

Back in the Clinton era of the high capacity magazine ban I traded a Ruger P85 with 5 magazines straight across for a Beretta 92 Inox with 2 magazines at the local gun store where I bought the P85 a couple years earlier. I am pretty sure they threw the P85 away and sold the magazines. LOL! I still have the Stainless Beretta and I have never missed the P85.

When supply is low and prices are high it is time to sell... not the time to buy! ...but you got to know what you have!

I don't know if it's a myth or not, but I've read of kabooms with Mausers while shooting Tok ammo. But yeah, that's not relevant- or maybe, it's relevant to say "Mauser ammo is safe". Either way, all the anecdotal evidence seems to indicate:
a) the 2 rounds are dimensionally close enough that they can be both be chambered in either platform
b) all indications of "X is too hot" seem to go "Tok is too hot for a Mauser"; there's nothing I've ever come across saying Mauser is too hot or dangerous in a Tokarev.

My local shop has PPU Tok and Fiocchi (I think) Mauser, and I think the Mauser was actually cheaper by a bit- 29 for Tok, 25 for Mauser. SGammo has Mauser for 70 cts a rd, and list several cases worth available. Liberty Tree Collectors has it for 60 cts a rd, I would venture to say the shipping will be higher (they've been around $20 for me in the past). We're in strange waters here... there's always been available and cheap Tok ammo for these guns. At this point, you are now trying to find anything you can, which makes for an interesting situation.

As the owner of a p89 and new owner of an Inox 92fs I can see why you made that deal! Never had any problems with the Ruger but it's an absolute clunker compared to the Beretta.

One word of warning I use Sellier & Beloit as their stuff is non crosive a lot of warsaw pact 7.62x25 is corosive
and under no circumstances use Bulgarian 7.62x25 it is for either the ppsh or some other subgun
it may well be 7.63x25 it created a foot in diameter ball of fire visible in daylight out of my 54-1 Norinco (and split the case neck as well) so it is avoid at all costs.
Hope you enjoy your Tokarev they are fine shooting irons have a pair (54-1 and a 213 in 9mm) the 213 is EDC gun. Real tack drivers and run like a trains.

More internet myth. All 7.62x25 Tokarev ammo (short of a long Chinese subsonic round) was made for use in BOTH pistols AND 'subguns'. You will find no manual, label, box, packet, crate, etc. that says otherwise. There is no technical spec sheet or info to designate any difference at all. And wouldn't it be pretty stupid of a military to issue potentially dangerous ammo to troops in the field?

My Polish and Romanian 7.62x25 milsurp do the same out of my M57s. The Yugoslavian 7.62x25 not nearly as much. Seems most the powder has burned before the bullet leaves the muzzle. I don't know if its because it was intended for the Zastava M57 (Yugoslavian Tokarev), but that's my guess.

You can put in a bid for this https://www.gunbroker.com/item/884951037 , hope no one else sees it and pray to win. Because if you did, you could sell all but perhaps 500 rounds by the box on GunBroker and actually make money doing it. As of the time I post this, there are no bids... kinda tempted to do that myself.

“Davey Crockett special munitions” aka a Hiroshima class nuke fired as a spigot round out of a 75mm recoiless rifle, range ~1000 paces (Per Dad watching a test fire at White Sands) yup Militaries do stuff like that all
the time read up on the inital deployments of the M-16. About half the issue was ammo. And Guess what Dad’s unit had a whole truck load of when they went to Germany? Mr. Crockett of course (“instructions, fire over a hill or from cover”)
Turned out the beast was designed to fire from a 155mm recoiless rifle that was *never* built
Got to love weapons procurement. Note we did have 105/6mm recoilless but as far as I can tell the Crocket was not modded for use in the 105/6mm (I have seen the larger recoiless called both 105mm and 106mm)

TT33 Tokarev Romanian (useless gun.)
I got my 7.62 Tok sizing die back from Lee today. The die set had been put away for years as the de-capper lock screw was stripped out. Then I realized there was another questionable anomaly with this die set. The seater die is marked "30 LGR MSR F3.". At the time I figured Lee substituted the LGR die as the brass of the TOK is very similar to the LGR.
Lee returned my payment for fixing my die as they said it cleaned up just fine and works. (wow free repair)
I loaded one round using my notes from years ago. 110 grain plated M1 carbine bullet, 5.3 grains of Accurate #2, Coal = 1.362
Bullet seated with some difficulty of adjustment and performs the plop test. This bullet is probably gonna' flop around in the bore somewhat, but will hit the target if not too distant.
The bore could be from .309 to .312"
Anyone else use carbine bullets with their TTC????

I sold my M57 due to ammo shortages/prices. Great round, but it’s no fun when you can’t get/afford the ammo.

Fired my test round in the backyard a few minutes ago. Gun worked perfectly. but I could not find the brass. Loaded up 5 more rounds a few minutes ago and will fire the next with a rubber band on the ejection port to stop the brass. Then I will chrono the next round.
I missed the tomato can I shot at from 7 yards and can't see any disturbance on the leafy ground to see impact point.
These plated bullets come no where near fitting into the bore of the gun so the rifling must be taking hold of something. Stay tuned.

About 20 minutes later I'm back. 3 shots over the chrono went like this:
1078
1013
1074 average 1055
The gun shoots high for me. All brass recovered and it looks fine. It looks like a few more tenths of a grain in powder will give me 1150fps which is fast enough for me and my plinking at the gun club.
Cost to load 11 cents for bullet, 4 cents for primer, 2 cents for powder. Cheapo!
