I'll probably get yelled at if I try this.

A few days ago I went to the range and shot pistols. I picked up a couple of pieces of brass and stuck them in my pants pocket. I forgot about them and my wife never checks my pockets. Anything in them gets washed along with the pants. She found the brass in the washing machine and brought it to me. It was CLEAN. I have been thinking about getting a small laundry bag to put my brass in and throw it in the washing machine but my wife will have to know what I'm doing. I can't remember how to program her fancy washer.

You could disperse the brass by putting it in several small laundry bags, and then putting the bags in several different pant's pockets - your said your wife doesn't check pockets anyway.;)
My own wife gripes at me sometimes when she sees those foam earplugs floating around in the washer. It doesn't bother me though - the earplugs get really, really clean!:D

I've been reading about cleaning brass in a cloths washer for a long time. Also some have used a dish washer, brass in a mesh/wire container. I've thought about trying it except for two major reasons; none of my components come into the house, and two, I would have to move out to the shop after SWMBO found out...

See guys you newly weds don’t know how to go about these things. Solution, volunteer to do the laundry. No lady can resist that and it has additional benefits. Ask me, Ive been married to the same lady for 56 years maybe 57 I forget.

I use to shoot trap and the shells always got a wash and rinse cycle before reloading.

As for lead, you ain’t got very clean clothes if that’s a problem.

Yeppers, only 49 years (so far) for us though. Nevertheless, I'm going to get off THR right after I post this, pull the sheets off the bed, and throw them in the washer. Today is sheet washing day, and it just happens to be the one day of the week my wife actually goes to town to work; she works part-time for our church, but does most of it from home over the internet.
When my wife is home, she usually does the laundry. It's not that hard - we have one of those new-fangled auto-matic washing machines.:D Our brass tumbler is probably harder to use, but my wife helps with that too. I don't see why she shouldn't. I mean, half the brass we tumble is hers.;)

You could dedicate that pair of jeans that just doesn't fit right....sew up the legs....and the waist. Use the zipper for filling and unloading.?...

Your expedience is getting too greedy, you might earn a slap on the hand if you push it that far. Marriage and how far one can take things is about subtleties.

I don’t use the washing machine for brass brass I did for shot gun hulls. I do however occasionally dry the brass in on of them new fangled air fryers. Tried it any way but just another trip up from the cellar. I’ll go back to spreading it out on a towel.

Now I just tried wet tumbling brass cases for a Burside Carbine, didn’t work too well. Being cone shaped all of them mated up with a neighbor. Got poly case for the same carbine, tried those in the washing machine pretty much the same deal.

Newly wed. Suuure. Come next February the wife and will have been piling our dirty clothes together for 62 years.

I broached the subject of washing my brass in her fancy washing machine that I'm too dumb to even turn on. Well, I can turn the power on but it just sits there until you program it and I keep forgetting how to do that shortly after she explains it again. For the life of me I just can't remember the steps to make it do anything. :D She informed me that she wasn't going to listen to a bag brass banging around in her washing machine.

I brought this up while drying dishes this morning. I thought I might get some slack with a dish towel in my hand. Nope, ain't happening. She did explain how I could clean it with a laundry bag, a five gallon bucket, soap, water, and elbow grease I told her she was a big help but I would pass on her idea.

Harbor Freight has an ultrasonic cleaner on sale that might be an option but our little idiot that runs the state has them shut down until December 1st at the earliest. Even Hobby Lobby is closed and I bet there are a bunch of mad women over that little deal. I know of one that certainly is.

Cleaning your brass in the washing machine is a great way to chip the enamel away in the drum. This will lead to rust which will lead to staining your clothes . Just go to Harbor Frieghts and buy a small cement mixer and clean your brass that way.
