So it's a bit smaller than a S&W "K" frame ?The New King Cobra is not much like the original KC.
The original was a medium framed model in the same line as the original Mark III series, with a cylinder and frame about the same size as the Python.
About all the New and old KC's have in common is that they're both transfer bar ignition/safety designs based on the Mark III series of 1969.
The New KC is made on the same small size frame and cylinder as the old Colt "D" frame models like the Detective Special and Diamondback.
It's basically the same as the New Cobra models.
Most owners really like the new KC, it's accurate, has a nice trigger, and is very good quality.
Old Dog's recommendation would lead me to buy one of these sight unseen, if I could find one.I am quite happy with mine; this is only the second handgun I've bought new in years that exceeded my expectations (the first was the SIG P-226 Legion). The trigger is, in a word, phenomenal. In DA, it's incredibly smooth; in SA virtually no take-up or slack, just a light, crisp clean break. It's solid, excellent fit and finish and has displayed terrific accuracy. Lock-up incredibly tight. I always felt like the 3" barrel was the sweet spot for a concealed carry .357. Brass bead front sight kind of old-school cool. Leather courtesy of George Bowers Leather. And yes, I suspect this will prove to be a much more durable revolver than the older Colts.

How does it compare in size to S&W ? Bit smaller than a K frame, isn't it ?I am quite happy with mine; this is only the second handgun I've bought new in years that exceeded my expectations (the first was the SIG P-226 Legion). King Cobra. My idiot phone autocorrected the title, and I didn't catch it until after I posted it and came back to check on it.Wait are you talking about the python or the king cobra aren't those two completely different revolvers?
Same here, my Cobra target was having misfires and is suffering from tight chambers, been back to the mother ship for 3 weeks now,I had two visits back to colt for misfires. About a month stay each visit.
Not exactly. The New KC is made on the same small size frame and cylinder as the old Colt "D" frame models like the Detective Special and Diamondback.
It's basically the same as the New Cobra models.
Please elaborate.Not exactly.
The top strap on the new King Cobra is thicker than the one oft the Cobra. Please elaborate
Same here, my Cobra target was having misfires and is suffering from tight chambers, been back to the mother ship for 3 weeks now,
Called last Friday and was told it had been worked on and sent for testing, that's the last I've heard.
No problems with my 38 Special and I really like it.
Well, not really -- I didn't realize how close they were in size until I put a couple side-by-side (my 3" Model 13 -- probably the closest S&W in comparison -- is on loan to a brother), the KC actually appears more robust (topstrap) than the Model 19.How does it compare in size to S&W ? Bit smaller than a K frame, isn't it ?
These new Cobra's and King Cobra's use the Trooper Mk III lockwork, correct ? More robust than any Python lockwork ?The New Cobra (and New King Cobra) are actually the same size frame and cylinder as the older Colt "D" frames like the Detective Special and Diamondback, only with the frame beefed up in critical areas.
These models are "about" the same size as the S&W "K" frame, and the Colt and S&W cylinders are so close, the same speed loaders can be used in both.
Probably the closest approximation to the New Colt's would be a S&W 2 or 2 1/2 inch "K" frame like the Model 10, 19, or 66.
The frames will be very close, the cylinders the same diameter.
No, and no.These new Cobra's and King Cobra's use the Trooper Mk III lockwork, correct ? More robust than any Python lockwork ?
Ok then. Correct me, please. No, and no.
I thought I had done so.Ok then. Correct me, please.
Is that a set of Ahrends Cocobolo combat grips I see on the M19? Look very familiar for some reason. I have a set of his retro target stocks on my 586Well, not really -- I didn't realize how close they were in size until I put a couple side-by-side (my 3" Model 13 -- probably the closest S&W in comparison -- is on loan to a brother), the KC actually appears more robust (topstrap) than the Model 19.
Saddened a little to hear that some of our brothers here have had issues with the new Colts -- but my experiences (3 so far, and waiting for my Python) have been very positive.
