Well, since Biden was an original proponent of the Senate's version Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. We all know he'll try and push such nonsense again.

As such, other than the usual chest thumping of noncompliance. What firearm would you choose to for day to day carry to not feel the attention of the fuzz? Would you carry a five shot J-Frame? A 1911 Automatic? A Ruger LCP or maybe a GLOCK 26? Would you dig up the old Clinton Ban era 10rd mags for guns like a Beretta 92FS or GLOCK 19?

What would be your "Compliance Gun"?

I have a gaggle of guns that would qualify as complaint. Like my S&W Model 909 or 3913 or maybe my GLOCK 27 Gen 4. Heck, even my Beretta PX4 Storm SD and Browning Hi-Power .40 qualifies.

I have a Dan Wesson CCO that holds 7 in the magazine I have a carry holster for. I would also begrudgingly buy a 10 rd magazine for my CZ 75 D.

p365:

Glocks, Sigs, Springfield, SW, Ruger, etc. lots of compliant 9mm choices.Hard to choose. Personally, I would explore 10 shot, striker, no safety guns. The G26's advantage was taking the higher capacity Glock mags. If (and let's not go into doom porn ranting) that wasn't a factor - I'd go for a slimmer gun.

The 365 is tempting - if you could find one.

The J frames, LCPs etc. - the hypothetical ban isn't a factor as they were pocket guns and usage determined by other factors even when we had access to higher cap guns.

Oh, a new thought, the Glock 26 does offer compatibility with a Ruger PCC outfitted for Glock mags.

Maybe we can get a miracle and not have to worry about this silly 10 round stuff.

But if we do have to worry about it, will it be “guns originally designed for 10 rounds or less?” Or can I put a 10 round magazine in my favorite Glock 17 or 22?

That's true Cap, I'm going to watch the thread to see if it goes political doom porn as compared to discussing 10 round or less guns based on their merits.

Yes, you can have a G17 or 19 with 10 round mags. They were sold with these during the initial AWB and in current ban states. I have a slew of such mags for IDPA usage. Got them cheap after the AWB expired and they were dumped. Given IDPA limits they were a bargain. Today, they are as expensive as regular mags in ban states.

Whether a new ban would take out guns that have a capacity for higher caps - who knows and let's what for that to happen. Don't want a doom porn thread.

I still have my 10rd ban complaint mags from then too.

Until all the counting ends, and both Congress and all the other races settled, this will all be pointless speculation.

Agree. I’d go even a step further and say it’s speculation after that, as well. In the 1990’s some on both sides of the isle believed that others were well meaning, which is why the AWB happened. No longer the case.

G30. I carry it half the time anyway.
To me a capacity ban removes the advantage of several 9mm guns, the subcompacts wouldn't be an issue and that's what most folks carry.
If it comes to that maybe an AR pistol in 450 bushmaster may be in order... It's a pistol after all .

I have mostly defaulted to revolvers, already, anyway, as long-stroke DA, with medium- and medium/large-framed revolvers, is my least-perishable skill, among the several trigger/action types. Two folks in our household are 60+, with underlying health issues, so training time at formal shooting ranges has been zero, in 2020, and plinking time, in a remote area, has been been minimal.

My favored auto-loading pistols, for concealed carry, use single-column mags.

I do have several 9mm Glocks, but since I retired from LEO-ing, their role has diminished. The Glock trigger is less-well-internalized, so I need frequent live-fire training. Just losing easy access to the PD range, due to retirement, affected my level of Glock competence, and then, this panic-demic. Ah, well. I have long hands, but short thumbs, and never really learned to love any wide-body pistol, anyway; they never seemed really secure in my grasp.

My aging right hand does not always cooperate with what my brain tells it to do. Things like running an autoloader’s slide, if shooting lefty, or maintaining a firm wrist, or a firm grip, if shooting righty, are less-certain things, than in the past.

It is not like I am unhappy. My favorite handguns are several revolvers, and carrying two of them at a time is nothing new. Just complyin’ with the limitations of having reached retirement age.

Oh, I forgot. Compliance gun? Double barreled shotgun, of course. ;)

Shotgun Joe-y sits around around in his underwear, bidin’ on a pellet, and sniffin’ everyones’ hair.

Presidents don’t ‘enact’ gun control – in fact, presidents don’t ‘enact’ anything – Congress does.

And Congress isn’t going to enact a ‘new’ AWB – no magazine restrictions, no ‘compliance gun’ needed.

Just curious...how can you be so sure? If the house has a dem majority, and dems take the Georgia senate sets, Kamala would be the deciding vote.

If that day comes, I’ll probably still carry my g17 gen 3 with a 20 round mag. If I’m feeling complicit, I’ll carry my Springfield Range Officer 5” 9mm with a few 10 round mags. There is such a slim chance of Biden being able to get anything like it through, if he in fact does get in, that it is pretty much a non issue and likely not to be enforced anyway.

Unless a small miracle happens between now and December 14th, all of the pieces will be in place for this to happen. We're stuck with ten rounds or less in NYS in any case. So I already have what I would have picked.
