You'll have to forgive me, but I'm bouncing off the walls a bit bored at the moment.

As inspired by the Your Favorite Handgun thread, what would you say is your favorite rifle? This could be your favorite of the week, the season, the year, or for all-time.

I'll start with my favorite of 2020, which happens to be my Marlin 1894 in .357 magnum. What a sweet short range shooter. Women and men alike seem to enjoy shooting it, too.

Most importantly, I really like shooting it and I really like the way it looks. I definitely like 19th and 20th century lever guns, but some of these 21st century lever guns really call to me now.

Y'all please share your favorites and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s really tough not to pick a rimfire as that could be a category all on its own (hint hint), but I’m going to say it’s a really close call between my current lever actions. Marlin 62 is sleek and quick, marlin 336 is a more powerful gun but is also refined and nice. Too hard to pick so I will say that the 62 in .30USm1c is my favorite rifle that is not a family heirloom. It’s close cousin in .256 winmag is a family heirloom I stand to inherit, although it has migrated among safes a few times. I prefer the .256 for sentimental reasons, and it’s the gun I killed my first deer with. The 336 though has significant family history and was my grandfathers. When I touch that rifle it just takes me back to the early 90s sitting on the tailgate of the truck on a cold November morning watching the deer play with grandaddy holding the rifle “hunting” without a round in the chamber and no intent to shoot a deer. I sometimes wonder if he didn’t carry the rifle more for the possibility of shooting a coyote than a deer because he had plenty opportunities on deer and never even considered a shot.

Uhhh.....all of them?

I can find something about nearly all my rifles, or guns in general, that will make them "the" favorite at any given time.

If I had to choose one, it would be thr Browning A-bolt. I don't think I like any design past or present better than that rifle...and specifically MY A-bolt.

Favorite of the week, the Ruger No. 1V in 25-06 that I picked up yesterday.

Favorite of the year, the Ruger No. 1V in 300 Win Mag. Perfect balance between easy to carry and easy to shoot. It’s also extremely accurate.

Favorite of all time, gotta be an AR of some flavor. Probably my 6.8. That’s probably the one rifle I would keep if there could only be one.

I love my tikka t3lite 30-06, and my home built 35 whelen savage 110 with a blond maple stock, my ar15's are all special because I built them to MY specs, and I love a good sks. But the rifle that makes me happy every time I pick it up, or even see it, is my cz 527 carbine in 7.62x39. It's just awesome. Checks all the boxes for a general use carbine, and good lookin too.

That's one CZ that I regret not buying for myself. Maybe someday I'll do something about it.

My first CZ will be a .223 Remington. Preferably mannlicher. Too many pesos for me so far. But I’m considering liquidating some stuff so maybe. I fully expect it would be my favorite rifle.

I didn’t quote the post above this one and now I can’t figure out how to do that since I already made the post.

Ruger 77 mkII in 30/06 shoots like a damn match rifle and has flat out killed everything I’ve pointed it at.

I’ve probably had it 15 years now and it’s one that will never be sold

I am with Lonewolf...I love them all, but one of my Favorites is my Remington 700 BLD in 6mm Remington. It is the rifle I primarily used in my youth while working on a large ranch in north Texas. We had absolute freedom on the ranch as long as it was immaculate, the cows were healthy, and work was done. That rifle rode everywhere with me, fed me, kept the ranch safe from predators and stray dogs and used for many, many other purposes. Because 6mm Remington was harder to find than .243, I took up reloading which lead to even more shooting. It was even with me when we "Captured" an escaped convict from the local prison. We were feeding cows and spotted him up in a tree. We called the prison and he was promptly captured. They told us he was in the trees because he was afraid of all the hogs that were running around. One night in the north Texas brush and he was more than ready to return to prison to serve out his sentence......Anyways everytime I handle that rifle or shoot it, it brings back great memories.

I couldn't find a picture of me with the rifle, but this is an example of why I loved it so much. I took a coyote in the morning and a deer right before lunch. The rifle, of course, was in the truck at the time. I will keep looking for one with the rifle....

We'll qualify this as "for the moment"... :)

I configured this G1 TC Contender a few months ago with the EABCO laminated coffee stock... The 23" .22LR barrel and Intensity Optics scope I've had for quite some time.

For shins and giggles, I took it out and popped a tiny bit of forest debris at an eyeball-measured 30 yards with a .22 Super Colibri. I can't even remember ever seriously sighting in the scope, so I was delighted to see that piece of debris jump with a solid hit. I also liked the fact that the Colibri round hitting that debris made more sound than the round going off.

Color me tickled that the Super Colibri actually seems to be hitting to POA with this configuration, to about the max distance that the Colibri might actually be useful for something or other... :) So, for the moment, I have a dedicated Super Colibri rifle... :D
