Rugers purchase of Marlin.

I'm waiting too. I'm excited to see what they do, I have lots of love for ruger and marlin (before freedom group) . I've wanted the 1895 trapper for a while but found the quality lacking. I have no doubt the new Marlins will be great, if ruger screws this up I'll be disappointed .

Would love to see Ruger make the old series of Marlin guns without the goofy levers and odd ball gimmicks.
I have a stainless 44mag that would love a .357 stable mate.
Also how about a rotary magazine 6.5 creedmoor in the old Savage 99 configuration I'd stand in a long line for that. :what:

About 5 years ago I went to buy a marlin but simply couldn't find one that wasn't a mutilated mess. I got a Henry and I've been really happy with it, I'll be happy to get another marlin though.

The biggest hurdle for Ruger is to maintain their attention to detail and quality. Can't wait to see those wonderful lever actions in the gun shops. New JM quality rifles would be great

"View attachment 958960When will I be able to buy a Marlin manufactured by Ruger?"

"Once the sale process is complete, we will begin the process of relocating Marlin Firearms assets to existing Ruger manufacturing facilities. Sometime after that, we will begin setting up production for new, Ruger-made, Marlin firearms. Our hope is to begin producing Marlin firearms sometime in the second half of 2021."

The President of Ruger was on Gun Talk a couple of weeks ago, you can go listen to it on podcast. Tom ask him all the question most of us would want to know.

With rugers experience in investment casting they could quite possibly make marlin leverguns cheaper without making them suck.

I’d be shocked if you see any other Marlin design carry over as everything else they made had a Ruger direct competitor that was better.

I love my Remington Marlin. Shot it on Friday. Compared it with my 2003 1895 and the quality is nice. The only thing I can't stand is the stupid bar code. Can't wait for some new models to hit the market. Still feel sorry for those that I know without jobs due to the sale.

They are not without jobs because of the sale. Without the sale everybody associated with Marlin would have no job.

They are without jobs because for whatever reason Remington went bankrupt. Has zero to do with the sale.

Is Marlin still up and running? Because I want to buy another M60 .22 and they are out of stock everywhere except gunbroker which they want over $300 for a new one. I don't want a used one unless it is verified to have a low round count shot through it.

Got this one at Walmart a couple months ago it shoots as good as any older JM made, have tested 10 different ammo types and brands with no malfun ction. I put a scope on it, now I want another one to keep as a iron sight shooter but Rural King, Walmart, Bass Pro and everybody is out.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a 336 take-down with aluminum hand guard.
No offense meant but that would be blasphemy lever guns should only have wood furniture and aperture sights. I can't see John Wayne wielding your request. o_O

What about the Marlin 60? Will be interesting to see on that one.
One of my all time favorites but oddly enough I picked Ruger's 10/22 over it. Would love to have a 39A though.

All the comments on how folks don’t like the tactical look of new levers is interesting. When companies are making classics and updated guns o the same production lines that tells me that there is general interest, not just in the classics. It does beg the question though that if Ruger were to scrap the tactical versions, would those suddenly become the scarce and desirable models?

Ruger's not going to drop "tactical". Too much money in it trying to serve the 21st century shooter.

Plus, people are warming up to the fact that a red dot or small scope can work well on a lever gun. If Mr. John Wayne were alive at the ripe old age of 113 years old, I'm bettin' he might need at least a red dot these days. ;)

I can’t wait to read the Ruger trademarks, warnings and other “information” roll marked into the barrels and receivers of the new lever guns.
Oh no, you had to bring that up and ruin this whole darn thread.:barf:
That's the reason the 10/22 and single six are the only Ruger's in my collection.
Same with Smith & Wesson only have 2 pre-locks.

I would have room in my safe for a utilitarian railed lever, threaded, takedown in 10mm, 454 casual, or 460. The handguard would have to be done just right, not a straight tube extrusion but something that still keeps the thinness of a lever in mind. Would be a great back of the 4 wheeler bumming around the mountains or BLM ground gun.

I already have my classic levers and I think there’s room for some utility brought into levers, it’s not like old wood and iron will be replaced with them. Just don’t go full Mossberg SPX, a buffer tube and AR buttstock is a a bridge too far.
