Selling a Sig p226 .40 cal. on Gunbroker and a NJ buyer asked if I ship there. I won’t to Cali as the nightmare back and forth paper was a big extra hassle. AFAIK the prob is him getting the paper done with his ffl to take it home as long as it’s NJ compliant. Is there any extra paperwork or signature sing-offs like in Cali, or just the usual for shipping ffl to ffl to a free state like I always have done?

Nothing wrong with shipping a 226 to NJ. You can even ship the 12 rd magazines to the FFL in NJ. There's no law in NJ forbidding the FFL from possessing or stocking over 10 Rd magazines. There is a law in NJ on who he transfers them to. The NJ FFL can block the 12 Rd mags to 10 for much less than the price of 10 Rd mags. If the buyer is a LEO or retired LEO he could transfer the magazines without any modification.

Once the NJ FFL receives the magazines the onus is on him. No way you can get in trouble.

Thanks all! Been on GB since 06’ or so and bought/sold/shipped/received with no hassles till the Cali paper mess. I got him his pistol but what a mess when the actual DOJ OFFICE has to sign off after all the rest goes back n forth for diff signatures etc. . I’ll double-check w/ his ffl but looks fine so far, thanks again!

Its fine as long as Nj Legal. And even if it needs a modification such as pinned stock, pinned muzzle device etc the ffl can still receive it and do the mods before transfer if he agrees to do it.The 226 is fine to ship to nj. Most of my purchases have been from Gunbroker to NJ.

Because many people are unaware of local regulations and buy what they can't legally own there's a very high percentage of returns and other issues in certain States. It's more cost effective to not ship there altogether.
