Inexpensive but accurate .223 plinker projectile recommendation

Folks, I have used Hornady 2267s (boat tail with cannelure)in the past, but am having a hard time finding them in quantity.
What are your recommendations for 55 -62 grain .223 plinkers? And are they available in quantities of 1000? Thanks in advance!
 
I use Hornady 55gr SP for $70/k, when I couldn't find pulls or sales for cheaper. They seem to run ~1MOA in any rifle with optics.

This year? Nothing's cheap.
 
I was just going to recommend the 62gr fmj's linked above. They've been very accurate for me with the 3 different powders I've tried them with!
 
In the past the Hornady 55gr FMJ BT seems to be everyone's go-to, including me. They aren't terribly accurate, but good enough. They are reasonably priced. I still have about 500 or so laying around, I haven't looked around to see if they are readily available or not. My guess is not. Check the normal, Grafs, Mid-South, Midway, etc.

If I couldn't find these I'd look at RMR as their prices are always reasonable for a good product.

The Hornady 55 grain FMJ bullets are a good deal. My Remington 700 .223 makes <1.5" three shot groups at 125 yards with those.

Pulled military 55 grain FMJ bullets work well if you can find them.
 
Bob's bulk bullets or RMR. My buddy found an overrun of federal fusion 62s at rmr that he bought 1k of and he loves them for hunting.

Do you know of a tutorial or youtube that gives you decent info on this? I have made 3 or 4 attempts to get into this and backed away each time thinking there is too much to learn and too much room for error.

I have a few hundred pounds of lead in bulk and in (my) ingot form, but got no further. Even bought a smelt pot and the Lyman book. Only missing the mold (for 9MM) and handles. Still too tentative....

The castbulits forme should have some good links, there are a few good guys to watch on YouTube.
 
Get the LEE Second edition Reloading manual. It covers everything from “Gee I Want To Reload” too “Casting” . It is a HUGE Knowledge of reloading. A Must Have.

I value it at the top of approximately 35 -40 reloading books.

Inexpensive but accurate

Those are usually exclusive of each other. I've never found inexpensive 55grn FMJ bullets to be particularly accurate, and I've rarely found accurate bullets to be inexpensive.

Having said that, I think the closest thing I've found to both of those in one bullet is the 62grn BHTP's sold in bulk.
 
No real help, just find it interesting that blammo ammo bullets for the 223rem are +/- $.10 apiece.

Last time I bought any plinking bullets for the 223rem's they were under $40/1000 delivered for hornady sp's.
 
Buy a way to test the hardness and size of your bullets. Slug your guns and take a data driven approach to resolve problems. It's easy to cast for lp rounds and the requirements increase with pressure. Casting for 45 cal is the easiest imo excluding 454 and 460.

This is a pretty good read... Lyman cast bullet handbook seems pretty good too. No firsthand knowledge to share as I'm still gathering the stuff to start casting for myself.

Edit- sorry I glanced over the part about you already having the Lyman book.
