If the NFA went away, what would you get?

I do not believe I am. Do you really expect me to take Biden seriously when he says people ought to use a double-barrel shotgun and fire into the air to scare away a criminal intruder? ? ? ? A guy who confuses his sister and wife? Not to mention other malapropisms ...

To whatever extent I do take him seriously, I fear his agenda. Both in terms of economics and social effects ---- to say nothing of the U. S. Constitution.

Of the two, Kamala Harris is clearly the one to take seriously. She has shown no signs of senile dementia and is solidly leftwing in her politics, and IMHO will probably become president when Biden is removed via the 25th amendment, or resigns. Biden is only a placeholder for her, as she could never have been elected to national office.

We're talking past each other, but we're on the same page.

That'd be me. I've played with plenty of 9mm SMGs. The MP5 is nowhere near the top of my list.

I also spent 21 years turning wrenches, and BMW is pretty far down the list of vehicle brands I'd own.

LOL. If it's anything like a VW, I would agree.

Who knew about the third hole mod!
Change my list to a:
Monitor
1927 Thompson
M2 .50 cal
Delete the PAK 44 shells are too expensive!

Sans NFA that AR carbine will be rock'n on the cheap!

I made that decision back in Spring'75.

A nice young fella working behind the counter at Atlantic & Pacific Arms in Virgina Beach, VA (perhaps it was just over the line and in Norfolk?) was trying to talk me into buying a .45acp Ingram submachinegun and its distinctive (and, if the reviews were to be believed, very effective) suppressor.

The gun & suppressor were $275/ea + $400 for the two Tax Stamps (I had a buddy working at ATF who would be good for advice/help and a family farm where I could shoot it with no hassle) so, w/o any haggle, $950+tax OTD. Hmmm.

After thinking about it over the weekend, I decided that I was not going to start down the NFA Path if for no other reason than the cost to feed the bloody things.

======

That said ... :)

I think that it would be really nice to have a VG/EXC condition MG42 & Lafette42 (plus periscope sight assy & asst'd accessories/parts, o'course) ...

... failing that, and MG3 & Feldlafette (++), which would be easier to feed, anyway. ;)

That's about what my Thompson cost me in 1975. If you were paying that much for an Ingram, you were getting ripped off.

I had its little brother, the .380 MAC 11. The suppressor was very ineffective. Then, as now, gun reviews were nothing but hype.

I don't have any need or desire for any NFA firearms, but I sure would like to get some suppressors, and without the NFA BS I think their prices would come down, too.

The only full auto I would want is a M3A1 just for nostalgic reasons. I carried one while I was in the Army. I also was assigned the M60 and M2 but have no desire for either. The 203 would get expensive with the explosive rounds and the novelty of the chalk rounds would wear off quickly. It was a bit boring having to shoot the chalk rounds.

When it comes to M16's, I would rather have the full auto sear versus the 3 round burst. The FA trigger is way better than the Burst trigger. Yes I used both the A1 and A2 when I was in and there is a difference in trigger pull.

I would definitely want suppressors along with adding stocks to my AR pistols (SBR) and to my Mossberg Shockwave (SBS).

If the NFA went away I'd pop for a couple of cans and SBR a couple of firearms. I don't have much interest in full-auto, ammo is expensive enough and I burn through it fast enough without FA!

FA sear pack for a 10/22, about the only thing I could actually afford to feed, and easy to change the barrel, if need be. More suppressors, not because of the tax, but no months long wait. Ditto for SBR configuration of a PCC. A MP5 or its modern equivalent submachine gun.

If there were no restrictions, I always wanted an M79. Presumably there would be an affordable replica if it were legal. I can't imagine the grenades would be *that* expensive. Actually I would even be okay even with just those training rounds that sprayed flour or whatever around. At least it is a single shot!

M3 grease gun is top of that list.

That’s the first thing that popped into my mind as well. During my early years in the Army they were part of the basic issue for my tank crew. We’d shoot them once a year for familiarization and they were a lot of fun
