Do you buy duplicates?

Worse than that, I get one nice example for the collection and and several clones (which can be less expensive versions) which are for using if I intend to use the item. Guns, Knives, everything.
Ah. All mine are users

No wonder you have money to buy duplicates...

did I just say that... out loud...
Yep, it's great in some ways. But I can't talk to a knife.

As it turns out I did not bid, and then the knife was relisted. I nearly bid the second go, but I realized I wanted something else more. And I actually prefer all titanium knives anyway over carbon fiber. I may bid the next time I see one. Ten minutes after ordering something else, I went to check the one I had been eyeing up, and it was gone. So it no longer matters.

Edit: I forgot to say what I ordered. I got myself a Spyderco Yojumbo. That's there big murdery looking Wharncliffe for folks who don't know. Not sure why, but I like those things. This will be my first and possibly only Spyderco. Though I kind of think the McBee is kind of a cool little knife.

this is my Christmas present to myself.

I have in the past bought dupes to either give as gifts or to keep in different location, but all except 3 are users.
Those 3 are hard used, now retired, knives used in combat by 3 different generations

Carried a lot of different knives over the years. An amber bone Case Trapper with CV blades has become my go to. I’m not interested in other pocket knives anymore. Just Trappers.

I just bought 2 more Trappers in yellow Delrin for my kids and I’m gonna buy one in yellow Delrin for myself. I like that pattern, the steel, and I’m loathe to be without one.

I have 3 Ruger Vaqueros, and I am taking delivery on a fourth. So, yes I guess I do. ;) I have an older blued red frame in 44mag, in 4 5/8 barrel. A stainless 3 3/4 barrel birdshead in 44 mag. A 4 5/8 barrel stainless in 45 Colt and my new one is the old style blue in 45 Colt. My buddy calls it Vaquero fever. :)

How about your knives Jeff?

I've never spent more than $200 on a knife, but as with most things I own, they're likely to have a rough life. I buy duplicates of knives, sunglasses, and certain tools I use at work because it's inevitable that they will get broken and I don't like doing without. Even if they have a full "no questions" lifetime warranty.

It's never too late to have kids. I was 34 when my only son was born. Glad I waited as long as I did since I was a 34 year old kid. If you wait til really late, you'll be dead before they become mouthy know-it-all teenagers.

1. I’ll be 40 in like a month. That’s too late For me.
2. A willing woman is necessary, and while I’ve had plenty of fun, I’ve never met a woman I’d procreate with.
3. Kids...... meh

Anyway....... knives are great!

Stuff I use a lot of I always have duplicates or at least a functional backup for the tasks involved.

Buddy, I had my 3rd marriage in my late 40s, and my first biological child...at 48.

And she is most of my life.

Wife’s the oldest in her clan, youngest sister got married a few years ago, in her mid thirties, to a guy my age - and we’re ten years older than you, brother. They had their second baby 8 or 9 months ago.

Our two are 21 and 24. Don’t know how I’d do raising a baby at this point, but he seems to be keeping up just fine. Coworker is also my age. She and her husband can’t have kids of their own, so they’ve fostered and adopted three, and are on number four fostered baby that’s just a few weeks old now.

Point is, you’re only too old if you think you are.

Knives: I have a lot of duplicates. Some because I like a pattern or particular model, some because I lost one and liked it enough to not want to do without it. And some I don’t have dupes of that I wish I did because they are no longer available. Yojimbo is a cool looking knife, Yojumbo is even bigger. Spydercos are my favs, and those are on my list.

Do you buy duplicates? I mean I'm not going to worry about usage wear and tear and character. They're my knives. Maybe this is just silly.

Thoughts?
I think the only duplicates I have are a small collection of traditional Trapper pattern slip joints, and another of Spyderco Military knives. They were mostly picked due to different scale/handle material. At last count, I have four of the Militaries (black G-10, orange G-10, camo G-10 and natural "Jade" G-10). I've got at least a dozen of the Trappers, with scales ranging from natural stag, to carbon fiber.
