Bit of a score today

Found a Victorinox Champ in the SOS Pouch in a local junk shop. Both are in pretty good nick considering their age (best I can date the champ is 1987 ish, no “stupid” hook, screw scissors and no crimp on the pliers and no hole for the pin).

The leather on the pouch is a bit dry, the belt loop is cracking and the inside of one side flap is worn. Bit of saddle soap should fix that though.

Few bits missing (it has the sharpening stone, chinagraph, mechanical pencil and ruler / compass)
The champ is missing the pen (empty slot next to toothpick). I have a few spares in a box already, so I'm going to try and get it as near original as possible, saying that I will probably add or substitute a few bits and bobs as I go.

You can see the Champ has been used and has a few minor scratches on the scales. The only real damage I can see is the Awl has been shortened and reground, the back screw driver, wood chisel, small blade and large blade have all got slight twists in the tip, and the blades have a few marks from rough sharpening. It really bugs me, especially with a knife with so many tools on that someone used the blades as a pry bar.

As its defiantly a "user" I'm playing with the idea of giving the blades a bit of TLC and a pass or two on the oil stone, replace as much of the bits as I can and put it in my car kit.

Over all though not bad for 32 fally down liquid vouchers.

Looks like a nice find!

I've got a number of Victorinox knives, include a Swiss Champ (although mine has the "stupid" hook!).
