I dug out and reinstalled the original 1991 hardwood grips on my 686-3, replacing the Pachmayr hard rubber 'conceal' grips I purchased way back then. Not only much better looking, but provide a much better purchase and not much harder to conceal. The 686-3 was my first EDC, and has now re-earned the #1 position over my Kimber .45. For now.

Starting in Sept I began contacting the S&W Performance Center to rebarrel my 4" 686 to 6" or 7". They finally took it in early Nov and I got it back a couple weeks ago. Haven't had it to the range yet (just too busy with work). I never liked the velocities of the 4" barrel compared to my 6" Ruger Security Six. Now she sports a brand new 7" tube.

A new Uberti

Great looking wheel gun ... is the knife a old Camillus ?

EE6FEC1C-FE73-43A3-8CC1-DA2B2AF28B6C.jpeg New Uberti Bonney. 3 clicks, and feels great. I like the birds head grip and case hardened steel. Too bad I can’t find .45 cartridges anywhere.

I haven’t been able to find a dedicated Uberti thread yet, but would like to learn more about them. The guy at my local shop said this was a new one made in Maryland, and I thought he said the company is owned by Ruger (?). But the person fetching the box said something about Stoeger. Just trying to figure out what all that means.

*Edit: Stoeger is affiliated, but Ruger is not. Either I misheard or the guy misspoke. Seems it's all under the Beretta umbrella. Beretta owns Benelli, which owns Stoeger, who at one time imported Uberti's, but since moving to MD, Uberti's are made in the USA, and according to my local guy, made much better than they used to be. At least that's how I'm understanding it. Maybe you all knew this already. I'm still fairly new at this.

Love the Model 27 trio especially with the three different barrel lengths!

Also admiring your cut down Ruger Super Blackhawk with the two-tone look! Downright snazzy!

Old model Ruger Super Blackhawk. The barrel was cut down to 4 5/8 inches and the ejector rod housing and grip frame refinished. This was a thing back in the 70s.

I purchased a used Super Blackhawk in 1990-91 ?
At a LGS at a great deal $275 OTD with 100rds of ammo ...It was my woods carry gun for years ... I ran alot of magnum loads through it over the years .. I killed a hawg with it and my brother killed not only hawgs but a Black bear with it ... in 2009 I traded to my brother for something or another... I can’t remember what at this time .. my brother used it as his four wheeler gun .. I think he sold it a couple of years ago ...
