I am new to handgun optics. Have had them on rifles and while they would seem similar they are different to me. I have a few questions and also would greatly appreciate tips from the community that may reduce the learning curve. So here goes: on this optic do I turn the elevation dial clockwise to move the dot lower in the window (move my point of aim up). Is the dot going to stay pretty much centered in the window or no? Do I want to marry the dot to the front sight (mine is a night sight but no surpressor height). Is it still the same as a rifle in that if I am hitting low I want to move the dot down to bring the impact up and vice versa? Thanks. Any tips are appreciated.

I don’t have a Holosun optic , that up front . I never even bothered looking at directions ( I should have ). Put the pistol in a good solid rest , fire 3 or 5 rounds move the dot to the center of the group . Fine tune from there . I sight in at 25 yards but I keep reading 17 yards is optimum .I have suppressor height sights on most of mine and the dot is above the front sight on all of them . The dot will always be in the center because our brains will automatically move our hands to F28D48FA-5E97-433F-B591-7180E73DA193.jpeg 0DF24E32-4FAF-44DF-ABC2-CB45DAB6EABD.jpeg AC6BE1CE-67D4-4DC4-96B4-2480D8A0FD4A.jpeg 9C822D69-37CB-4B9B-951D-A49D1079C12E.jpeg 694744B6-241B-4536-BC5B-B666C2363317.jpeg DF6F6D49-1B32-4297-8FB9-272874BE42E6.jpeg BC33601C-35E6-414B-89A2-C3AE28FE1131.jpeg center the dot in the screen . You don’t move the impact you move the dot . If you sight in at 25 yards it will be low at 20 and high at 30 ( you basically have a triangle going on ) until further distance and bullet drop comes into play and then it will come back into zero . Just like a rifle just shorter distances .

Thanks. Been working with it. Your info is pretty consistent with what I have been seeing. Thanks for the info.

It's likely I'm not completely clear on what the question is but...

The Holosun windage and elevation screws are marked.
Counter-clockwise to move point of impact up.
Counter-clockwise to move point of impact right.

With a red dot site you are not changing the visual position of the dot in the window anymore than you are changing the visual position of the crosshairs in a conventional scope.

The only way to affect the visual relationship between the dot in the window and the front site is to either change the height of the front site or change the mounting height of the red dot.

That typically means changing the height of the front site as the alternative is to play around with different thickness mounting plates for the red dot.
For a pistol I don't know anybody who does that.
For a pistol most would prefer the red dot be mounted as low as possible so thinnest plate possible or direct mount to the slide if there is a match between slide and optic.
Sometimes there is; sometimes there isn't and you have to use a plate.

Edited to add: lol, just realized how old this thread is...:cuss:
