This is a question for citizens who choose to conduct their daily business while armed, either concealed or open. Let's not include any carry while functioning in an official capacity- LE, military, etc, just plain old civilian status.

How often do you carry a secondary "back up gun" or "BUG"?

It doesn't matter if it's the same platform style, caliber, or functional method as the primary, it counts for this poll...

Thanks!

Only when hunting :D

BUG for SD, almost never.

Spare magazine magazine however, I need to get in a better habit of having one on me.

How about "sometimes."

When wearing a winter coat that makes the 4 o'clock draw difficult, I've started carrying an sp101 in my coat pocket. I've done the same with a pocket 380.

Other than that, I carry a G27 or G30 with extra mag or two and a knife for my non-dominant side.

Only when I meet for Armslist transactions to be honest, very rarely.

Occasionally I'll carry two sidearms in the field while hiking or camping in more remote areas. Yeah, it's extra weight but I have sometimes carried one on my belt and one in a chest rig, mostly due to the amount of Grizzlies in my area (SW Montana near Jellystone).

During the winter months, I like to change from IWB to shoulder holster as the weather allows jackets or a hoodie most of the time even here in the sunshine state. Often I will also choose to wear my beater Iver Johnson .38s&w in an appendix position in addition to whatever larger gun I’m packing in the shoulder holster. Even throwing a spare speed strip in the pocket for that gun hardly adds anything noticeable as far as weight and bulk, but it allows me to go without the jacket and larger gun at any point in the day and still stay armed. It also gives me the ability to draw a gun with either hand, or in a situation where the shoulder holster isn’t accessible.

Why in the world would someone announce to the world whether or not they carry a gun at all?

Your mere presence on this forum suggests that very announcement. The good news is you're probably like most of us, and not especially interesting to the sophisticated sort of criminal who would target you merely because you say you own and carry a gun on a gun forum.

It's not really a BUG, but sometimes if we're going out on a date night and my wife is wearing a tighter fitting dress I'll carry her G43 in an off-hand IWB holster.

BUG carry, not anymore. I used to live closer to a major crime metro area, where I was going into the city a lot. Bumper to bumper traffic, lots of people, lots of crime. I would carry a double stack firearm with spare magazine, single stack BUG on my ankle with a spare magazine somewhere.

Hiking is a CZ P-09 and a .22 handgun. usually a TX22, S&W .22 Compact, or a Ruger SR22. The .22 is just for plinking is I feel like it, the 9 MM just because.
