Bench work light

Just to add, if you're going to upgrade to LED lamps there is no need to trash your old 4' fluorescent fixture. All you need to do is remove or by-pass the fluorescent ballast(s) and re-wire (plenty of easy "how to" wiring explanations on line) then replace the old bulbs with 4' LED's lamps. LED's are more stable in the cold, use less electric, and run cooler. Plus they provide what seems like twice the light especially if you use 5000k - 6500k rated bulbs. The larger the "K" (kelvin) rating, the whiter the light. I did all my fixtures in my workshop/reloading room and it's like having stadium lighting in there.

I remember as a kid being marveled by the new LED bulbs that have a dome shape and could throw light like a flashlight.

“These things are going to be the future of lights” I thought, and hoarded all the removed little lights from various electric things. I made my own lighting devices with them.

My how far we’ve come!:)

Think of the electricity and maintenance we’ve saved alone. There’s not a single filament bulb in my house, but not to save money. More light! My eyes don’t work in the dark! The headlights I wear in the beginning and end of my day last forever now. The Olight I use for biking is brighter than any mag light was.
The very same Light hangs above my loading bench too. Light to spare! I almost feel blind leaving the room. (Although mine came from Menards, I’m sure it was the same mega-factory.)
No more will stray primers hide from searching eyes! Every kernel will be accounted for. Every number read will be exact. No more fumbling in dark corners.
The down side is, you may need to tidy up a bit more. Now that I can see, I vacuum more!

And today’s new high powered chipped LED lights even blink to let you know to change them!

Soon, they won’t wear out and will be embedded from the surface into the walls and ceilings architecturally.
Everything will power from the switch, through gold wires. No, Nano-Plasma ray energy.

I purchased some from Sams to put above the presses and above my workbenches and love them also, I rewire and install LED lights into my regular 4'ers as the bulbs or transformers wear out, if you check around I purchased 10 packs of bulbs for less than $4 each. I also put a sewing machine light at my presses that has a magnetic base and flexible head to light up inside the presses

I have four of them in the shop side of my garage that is no longer a garage and I just bought one to hang over my reloading bench to do away with the two small led lights I've been using. I even put two of them on my patio and they light it up like it was daytime. Lots of light for not much money.

If you have 8’ fluorescent fixtures and want to upgrade to LED, they make fixture conversion kits for those also. Turns a 2 lamp 8’ fixture into a 4 lamp w 4 footers. I haven’t seen them available in big box stores, but if you have a friend that’s an electrician, they should be able to order from their supply houses. They are easy, and as said previously, LED blows away old fluorescent.

Just installed these yesterday, got them at Lowes for $30 each. I was loading today for the first time in my new reloading room, which has a set of flourescent lights as well (Extra garage). My digital scale started drifting like it never has inside the house, so I turned off the fluorescent lights and it stopped.

I originally bought two LED shop lights at Sam's that had three adjustable light outputs. The "high" setting was too bright for my needs, so I reset them lower. Later, I bought two more but they were not adjustable and took them back.

Over last Christmas I hung 4 in my sisters 2 car garage and she is still thanking me. I used 10 in my own garage and it's like noon on a sunny day. I may add more to my garage and replace the old lighting on my reloading bench. Yeah, funny thing about light, the older I get the more I want. :)

I bought a bunch at Walmart for $16.99 and replaced the fluorescent lights in my shop and what a huge difference it made. Had to put one over the bench too and it makes loading easier when you can see everything.

Buy 5K or "daylight" LED bulbs, unless you like "orange" light. LEDs are very bright, watch how you mount them.

I replaced the backup lights in my Jeep with LEDs and they really light things up back there.

I did same on my bike replacing all but my turn signals on an old (92) Harley. What a difference going from the old incandescent orange filament lamp to the Daymaker LED headlamp. They really are a Daymaker. :) Gives high visibility.

LED tubes above all my reloading benches. Best thing since sliced bread! Now i have to wear sunglasses when i reload, lol.

I put up 4 8-foot two-tube lights and two 2-foot two tube lights in my 3 car garage. I swear I can see through the kids like an X-ray when they’re out there and the lights are on. ;)

No filament bulbs are in my house anymore, either. Some of my LEDs have been used almost daily for years, the filament bulbs are just not worth the hassle.

Stay safe.

what do you most desire?
More light!
(Inside joke)
I discovered "dusk to dawn" led lights. They burn so little juice anyway, but shut down during daytime. Your porch light is now a security light that comes on at dusk. If you want it off....flip the switch.

When I re built my reloading room I put upper cabinets in and put the LED under cabinet lights(3 18" ones) and man does that light things up. They also daisy chain so one switch turns them all on or off.

Our 50x60 shop with 12ft ceiling is lit with LED lights from Amazon. 20 bucks a piece for dual row 8ft lights. I usually have just one row on. All 5 rows are incredibly bright. My gunsmithing room is lit by 3 4ft LEDs and is also really bright. Ill never go back to fluorescent again.

After "someone" left an overhead light on in my wife's car for days and killed the battery, I replaced every interior light with LED's.

Now, even a few days left on and the car will still start.

Also replaced our cars and my motorcycles stoplight bulbs with LED's that rapidly flash a few times before going steady on.

They light up faster, are brighter, and the flashing catches the eyes of people otherwise preoccupied with their screens to hopefully prevent getting rear ended.
