When do optic manufactures usually roll out new stuff? I was just on leupolds website looking at the VX freedom 3-9 and it said the normal retical was not for sale. This made me think something new is coming out soon.
I'm not sure when the new stuff drops, but Leupold lists ALOT of stuff on their website that they've discontinued. Made it real annoying when I was looking for glass recently.
Is the freedom scopes discontinued? I found it odd that the normal crosshair said not for sale but the higher end freedom scopes were for sale. They discontinued many of their VX-R scopes. They of course kept the high dollar ones!!

Why?Have been a Leupold man for years. Going to change brands
I think $200 for the freedom line isnt too horrible. I would never spend the money on some of their higher end offerings. I do think they got too big for their britches over the years. A Vx2 used to cost $200. Do away with the rifleman, vx1-vx2 and offer a vx1 at vx2 prices. I used to buy Nikon Prostaff's due to the price and better optical quality than a bushnell. When I found Vx2 I found for an extra $100 I got twice the features and glass. If they ever go above $200 for an economy scope they can keep it. Other than super low light I think my Vortex 4-12 is the same quality as a Freedom 4-12.Disappointed that the products I loved and could afford have been thrown under the bus and replaced with items that a working man or retiree cannot ever afford
To paraphrase folks from a other threads "ya dun need 200 dollar rings ta shooo a turdy point buck".......$200 really doesn't get you much of a scope, IMO. I pay close to that for my rings.

You guys have Wal-Mart in Hawaii? lol. Just joking. I do like the quad lock rings but most my stuff wears burris Z rings. I tent to like Leupold for hunting due to the weight, slimness of the scope and in lower light it seems to be brighter and sharper, at least on my vx2-vx3. I cant remember the model. I tried Bushnell dusk and dawn and IMO its about as clear as a simmons or tasco. Nikon was decent, Vortex crossfires seem to be bad in low light. To paraphrase folks from a other threads "ya dun need 200 dollar rings ta shooo a turdy point buck".......
If you shop around 200 bucks will buy a very useable scope, and a set of very usable weaver quad lock rings from Walmart!
Not that im recommending either....tho i would .....
I liked Nikon too....I actually like MOST Philippines optics, I have a pile of Philippines made scopes, from like 4-5 different manufacturers.... including some new Sightron S-tacs that I think are the beezneez for a 300 dollar optic, if you can live with the bulk of a 30mm tube and a pound and a third in weight. You guys have Wal-Mart in Hawaii? lol. My only issue with the Burris is the eye relief. My muzzleloader has a very long LOP and its a thumbhole stock so the more eye relief the better.Don’t overlook Burris. I’ve had many over the years and they were excellent values and quality pieces. Like others have stated, the Leupold of old is gone....I still have several, but their prices have gone up and quality down, in my experience.
Burris timberline.....5 something inches. My only issue with the Burris is the eye relief. My muzzleloader has a very long LOP and its a thumbhole stock so the more eye relief the better.

Its so long ive run out if forward rail lol.
optics are really nice too..... but they also discontinued them this year I think. There are still some around and I meant to buy a couple but haven't gotten around to it
Ive got one and SHOULD buy a couple more. Keep thinking about replacing the 3.5-10 vx-3i on my .375 with oneI’ve been eying the Timberline scopes for a while. Looks like a great deal.
