To kick in the New Year, I tightened the mainspring on this Reid knuckle Duster. I picked it up a few weeks ago at auction.

Now she is in firing condition! I loaded some rounds with the .22 short bullets pulled and only the primers left in (otherwise I would not be firing it into the dark).

This one is in well used condition, and made in the Catskills, NY.

New CCW? Haha

I have never seen one shot. I have only seen a couple in real life. It’s nice to know that folks other than me find the well used examples and get a little more use out of them. You don’t know how much I loved seeing the video. Now, we need to see colibri ammo and a target at 5 ft. I would not put live, full power ammo in that gun.

Very nice, and when you anger them with the shots, you can turn it around and really hurt them. lol
Anger them? I’m not so sure it would anger them. It would certainly draw attention your way to guarantee that any animosity that they had would be focused upon you, but it seems like they might already be angry before this little gem got deployed.

These are fun to shot with Aguila Colibri, which is very, very low pressure ammo. You might want to check to see if your state bans brass knuckles, since these guns were clearly intended to function as brass knuckles as well as guns.

Always wanted to see one of those up close. I remember the scene from "The Quick and the Dead" movie where Sharon Stone had one tied to her garter. Did they ever make them in a larger caliber?

Thank you for that video, Jessesky.
I saw one of these on display at a gun show and could not figure out how to hold it and fire it. I thought one put their middle finger through the hole in the grip and then somehow pulled the trigger with their index finger. Now it makes more sense to me.

Neat little shooter.

I think it would do more than catch your attention...
I would not want to be fired upon by the lowly .22 - an underestimated round - in my opinion.
Reference the scene from El Camino, where Pinkman "offs" the smart-aleck carrying a 1911 with 5 quick shots to the boiler from a Ruger Mark II. The dude was graveyard dead!

I had an old Belgian Vella Dog pistol in 6.35 aka .25 acp. Let it go cause I didnt want to play, had fold down trigger and all. You mad me sad I let it go.

There is a world of difference between a long barreled 22lr and a no-barreled 22 black powder short. I would prefer not to be on the business end of that beauty when it barked, but it would take a miraculous shot to do significant damage. It would provide a nasty wound however which in the late 1800s or early 1900s would likely set up infection and lead to a slow and painful demise. That little joker is much less a risk of immediate death than it is of agony. Modern medicine would cure such afflictions without missing a stride.

I think you may need to rewatch that scene. Jesse smoked that dude with the other gun in his dads little safe which appeared to me to be a 5 shot Iver Johnson or H&R .32S&W bicycle gun. It was hidden in his hand in his left pocket. Definitely one of the coolest “movie shootouts” of all time.

...also, it’s a movie, so...

In its original home state, that has to be illegal for at least a dozen reasons!
Thanks for sharing; that is pretty neat.
