Yep. Review the recent thread by user "ontarget" for a first-impression comparo between the RW and the HRR. I have two of the Heritage guns, both purchased before the Wrangler came out. One of mine is the shorter (3.5") birdshead model. They're both dandy little shooters, hard to put down once in hand.

I have 4 of them. A 6.5 inch, 2-4 5/8 inch and one of the 3.5 inch BH grip. The BH is my favorite. And you're right, it's hard to put it down as long as there is ammo close by.

Ditto. I had one of the early longer barrel standard revolvers and traded it for the BH model. I just like the feel of that little gun in my hand. It's like shooting a cap gun.

Got mine new for $90 back in February. Store near me (bi-mart) put them on sale for $100. Ended up getting the last one that was used as a display model. They took pity on me and gave me 10% off because of a few little marks from being handled by people who don’t know a damn thing about operating a single action.

I was instantly a fan of mine. It Shoots really well for me and has been Totally reliable with all the ammo I’ve put through the it. I also enjoy shorts out of it. Few days after I got it I was able to headshoot a rabbit at 30yds. Exactly why I bought it, critter getter while doing chores. I think having a gun that can shoot ANY type of .22 ammo is super handy.
As to quality....For the price of it, hardly seems complaining about the little things I’d prefer to be different.
I did sand the oversized grips down to be slimmer and fit me better.
Thinking about ordering a birdshead grip for mine.

That's another plus for the HRR. They offer the many different grips and even the grip frames at very low cost on their website.
Mag cylinders too if you bought one without it.

My wife got me in in a Civil War box for my birthday.

They are immensely fun

Their store is like an online candy shop. Unfortunately, they only offer the birds head frame aftermarket, not the Lightning/Thunderer, Navy/Army, or Dragoon grip frames. A Dragoon 9" small bore... hmm.

I bought one a few years back, "just to see if they're as bad as everyone said." Well, the one I got was pretty good. I enjoyed shooting it, but didn't care for 6 1/2" barrel (I have a well know fetish for 4" barrels) so I sold it and moved on.

Flash forward to a few weeks ago. I'm in the gun shop waiting on a background check for a S&W 624, and noticed the HRR's were on on sale. I don't even recall how much, but it was in the $120-125 range. As I looked at them, I realized that I didn't have a 22 pistol anymore. I'd sold my last one a couple of years before. What the heck. Add a 4" one to my paperwork. So I went home with a 44, and a 22.



I don't shoot 22's much anymore. I don't really enjoy shooting them at the range, for me they're more of a bumming around in the woods gun. Unfortunately I don't get out in the woods much anymore. Getting old you know. But at least I've got something to keep the pine cones at bay if I ever get a chance to again.

I've got a 4.whatever" RR & it is an absolute giggle generator!! Something about that click-smack with shorts is just too fun! If only shorts were cheaper..

I thought about one but remembered buying one of the predecessors forty or so years ago and passed. Can't even buy the alloy ones in Illinois now. Since I have an original Scout, a 22 New Frontier, and a super Single Six I'm pretty well covered. I confess, I bought a pair of Wranglers for my wife and I not long ago. Stan the single action hoarder. BTW, the single six mag cylinder goes on the Wrangler but won't rotate.

just before the world crashed early last winter, my partner and I attended a gun show- I was looking for a certain sight part. At the end of one table was a heritage display- we paused there waiting for traffic to clear, she picked up a Heritage 22 with birds head grip. Sales guy and his partner engaged her, he did a nice job explaining how to handle the single action- in a few minutes she is filling out the paperwork. First firearm she actually purchased. Next day, outside busting on edge claybirds with it at 30 ft. She could empty a cylinder, busting as many birds as cartridges. Put in the 22 Mag cylinder, which she liked more. Little gun was ammo sensitive - but found some loads it likes. Gun rests on her side of the bed. She has broken up a couple raccoon quarrels with it and more claybirds. Finish and function are a little "rough" - but don't try to take away my partner's gun- she is very happy with it.

I want that model!!

Just a note on the 3.5 inch model.
Fun as he11 to shoot but the ejector rod is a smidge too short to fully eject the empties.
I still love mine though, but so does my 9 y.o. grand daughter so guess whose gun it is now.

You could stop at the nearest Cabella's from me. They had a used one last time I was there. Asking $295 for it. Then you could hit the ammo shelf where they had all of 5 boxes of .22 LR ammo at $7.99 a box of 50. I bought a bag of stale overpriced candy and left.

Now you got me on eBay looking at those faux MOP stocks.. do you find them to feel better in hand than the smooth woods, or did your gun not have the woods on it when you got it?

(I'm in Florida, too, BTW.)

Mine came with the shiny pearlescent plastic stocks. They're kind of slick. Just be aware if you get oil or something on your hands, they will slide around a little.

SE Florida used to be my stomping grounds. I lived in Vero for a while when I worked for Piper-Cub. Used to ride my bike down to Broward on days off to go fishing with an uncle who lived in Dania. Nice area back then if you didn't mind bails washing up in your favorite fishing spots.

I'll confess to buying one of these fairly early last year but I had to settle for the longer barrel as the short one wasn't available even from the factory. It does feel good in my hand and much like shooting a cap gun. I haven't shot it with the magnum cylinder but believe it would raise it out of the cap gun class. I might try the 22 boomers out on my next shooting safari.

Try some of the various "suppressor" loads, too. I bought boxes of Federal Suppressor .22LR when it came out and it is loads of fun with or without a can. 970fps and very clean. Most of the "subsonic" LR's I see are around 1050fps which is very little difference but the suppressor loads are formulated to be cleaner. At least, that's what the manufacturers claim and I have observed.

That sounds good but right now 22 LR, 22 mag, and 17 HMR are like hen's teeth in my area.

I almost got a RR after a day shooting a friends. However, right before we wrapped it up, the gun fired and the barrel flew off. We were able to push it back in, obviously we did not shoot it anymore, but I looks like the barrel was just press fit into the frame. This thread has reminded me to follow up with him and see what happened with the gun.

Edit to follow up.... I just spoke with my buddie and and he said RR (Heritage) handled it 100%. He got a new gun and it has been trouble free. I sure it is just an anomaly. Glad to see how many folks enjoy their RR's!

I have a few shorts and long 22's, maybe I need to look for one of those after the prices come back down a little.

I find even the stock smooth wooden ones a bit slick. I just ordered some darker-toned, checkered ones that look pretty good in the seller's pictures. We'll see when they get here.
