My brother and I must have come from different parents. He loves the big city and traveling to foreign big cities. I love the "sticks" and hunting. His hunting consisted of shooting a blue jay with a BB gun.
We are cordial to one another but that's it.

Four tags left to fill, family is scurrying around trying to get them filled before they expire on Sunday. Late black powder and archery season right now. Brother got this buck today, Grandson downed another doe. Fresh snow is making it easier. Hope to have close to 400+ lbs of venison in the freezer.

2020 season is done....done....done. Finished up filling tags this morning, :( no big bucks this year but the freezer is nearly full. Calculate roughly 480 lbs of venison....if 95% ground beef is going for $5 per pound, that's about $2400 of meat. :)

There is hope for next year....got this big 8pt on camera, if he makes it through the winter should be a dandy.

Hopefully he got his genetics out there. That is a BRUISER.

Got this guy Monday. I was watching 4 does feeding in front of me, and this one came stomping in. Our rut goes pretty much from now through Feb, with the season ending first week in March. Not a bad deer for my area- Fl panhandle is great for meat, but don't expect B&C. I decided to use a black rifle. No idea why some people keep saying they aren't suitable for sporting purposes. He was DRT from a Winchester 150 grain power point.

Got this girl with a 190 grain 300 BLK Hornady sub-x from about 25 yards a few weeks back, on the last doe day. And another doe with my 30-40 Krag carbine using 180 grain core-lock. No pics of the Krag deer- put her down nicely, but mis-estimated the angle. Stomach ended up on the outside. I normally just go for a couple of does in the early season, and hold off on my buck until later when the late-Jan/Feb rut kicks in. All my "trash" left over goes to a local zoo to feed the big cats, wolves, etc., and they are grateful to get it.

The only time I was able to go hunting this year was the Friday after thanksgiving. The only thing I saw all day was this doe which my .308 effectively took care of. Meant to make a head shot and she lunged forward when a rutting buck broke out of the cover and startled her. This was a managed hunt so I could not take the buck.....next year if he is still around he just might meet the .308 as well.
