Thanks for posting. I’m giving considerable more for mine than the guy in the video did for his but It all works out in the end, “you can’t take it with you”

I have been shooting percussion revolvers since the 70's and only recently got one summer before last. Congrats, you're going to love it.
I probably won’t be shooting it. I’ve been interested in the Colt Walker more than any other gun, it’s history, it’s size and the value of originals at auction. One sold in 2018 for $1.84 million. I have plenty of guns to shoot, this one will probably spend most of it’s life in a shadow box

You should shoot it at least a couple times. Mine is extremely accurate with 40 grain charge. Plus it gives you an appreciation of just how hard it would be to shoot these behemoths one handed while wrestling a horse with the other hand.

Aw say it ain’t so. They are the big boomers on the percussion firing line. Mines been to Georgia and back and it’s one fine heavy weight. 50 grains of 3f a 454 ball and its show time. :)

If you do get to shoot it, you will not be disappointed. This was shot from the bench with a Lee cast conical and SPG lube, 18 shots in a ragged hole. Only thing peculiar to these old iron designs is the tendency to shoot conicals high with the issue sights, but that was no doubt done on purpose.

I can't shoot mine. If I shoot it I then need a permit. One of these days. I got one all the fault of this forum. Everyone keeps saying how great they are. Got suckered in and love it. Congrats on your stimulus purchase.
You can own it with out a permit but need a permit to shoot it. Catch 22. Weird isn’t it !! What’s registered the black powder. ?

Can you shoot it along with someone else who has a permit?

These prices are courtesy of pandemic times pricing. The Italian manufacturers are struggling to just get a bare minimum revolvers off the line and out the door.

If one had 20/20 hindsight a year ago and bought one of each Colt-type revolvers offered for sale, the money would have at least doubled by now and more in the near future.

The guy in the vid bought it prior to the pandemic when things were "normal". I doubt you paid too much. If dealers can put them on sale depending upon their corporate marketing strategists, then their stocks will show there are too many in inventory, and they have to move metal.

In September 2019 I had seen where Midway had at least two previous "sale" promotions on an Uberti 1848 Whitneyville Hartford Dragoon. Normal stock price was $426, and the sale price was $360. I got one with free shipping plus tax. It's gonna be a long time before you see that again.

And Midway is now still selling them a $426.

@jim, I found very few Colt Walkers in stock throughout the web. Midway USA shows stock and I even checked out to “place order” point but hesitated because of the $500 final figure. Sportsman’s Guide let me order for about $70 less than Midway but acknowledgment showed a 1/25 ship date.... we’ll see

Then I think you got a good deal these days.

Enjoy!

Midway is offering free shipping and they lowered the price by $30. I canceled the order at sportsman’s and placed it at Midway, they have it in stock for $18 more. Estimated 5-7 day delivery.

Make sure you keep the bluing well treated. I thought I was pretty diligent on keeping mine treated, and then this happened. Only shot it about 3 times.

An old buddy gave me one as a retirement gift; wow, what a howitzer, and what's not to like.
It's the gun that made Sam'l Colt, the solution to the Native American plan of 'wait for the smoke, then charge', and reputed to be the equal of a smoothbore musket to 100 yards.
Amazing gun.

They are fun guns and a beast.

I've actually got a Walker brand new in the box I'm thinking about selling. I bought it a couple years ago in a weak moment when someone had a deal going I couldn't refuse but I already have another Walker and now I'm thinking I would rather get a Dragoon to go with it.

A few years ago, when I was still taking orders for leatherwork, I ran a poll on my website asking which percussion gun to get next. The Walker won by a landslide so I got one. Only had one person request a holster for one. That said, I'm not particularly nuts about it. I find the 3rd model Dragoon gives me 99% of the appeal without any of the associated hassles. Mine has elk antler grips and a Kirst gated conversion cylinder installed.

Craig, you know in all the years I think I've only taken two orders for Walker holsters. One of those was for a Gus Mccrae holster and I made myself one of those in the process for my Walker so I guess I've only made three Walker holsters.

I can believe that. I didn't even take any decent pictures of the one I made and that is sad. It turned out nice.

Actually the first holster I ever made was for that Dragoon. Still have it and still use it. I need to make another, maybe that will get me back at the bench.

Here's the Walker holster.
