How many of us are buying guns with no ammo available?

Almost. I got a Rossi 92 in .45 Colt and was able to cobble together about 400 rounds of ammo before things got truly unobtainable or cost-prohibitive (at least locally). Like everyone else, had no idea it would get this bad.

As for the .45-70 I bought - the local shop appears to still have a goodly amount of that ammo left for sale... :)

Not really buying anything as downsizing. It would have to be a fantastic deal to even begin to interest me. Thoughts like future availability and possible 10%+ inflation do keep me looking but not seeing anything of late.

Bought a .308 in the fall. Ammo availability has been sporadic. A buddy got a good deal on a .375 Win lever. THAT ammo is tough to find. I kind of did the opposite. I bought dies and have been acquiring components for .44 Mag. Don't have a gun in that caliber... YET.

I bought a Zastava M70 ZPAP in December. It is the first gun that I have bought that shoots the 7.62x39. I have been able to some ammo to shoot through it.

I almost bought a .375 Winchester several months ago until I read about ammo.
I believe Buffalo Bore is the only company that makes it currently. For a while ammo and brass were nonexistent. I decided I didn’t need that headache.

I was thinking no but I did buy a .357 with no primers available, so yeh, same result as no ammo. I just couldn’t resist the gun.

I will swap you 2,000 primers for the Smith, there isn't any reason it has to go unused as I have tons of components. I will even text you pictures of me enjoying it so you don't feel left out.

I did, found a Smith 57 and didn't want to pass it up. I used to have another .41 and so I've got a few rounds left, but I know I'm in for problems feeding this gun.
I’d buy a nice 4” Model 57-657 right now in a heartbeat...it would be a perfect finisher to my Blackhawk/Redhawk .41 trifecta.

I only got into the .41 game about three years ago, but I’ll admit I liked the round so much that I leapt in with both feet. Now I have lots of 41 loaded, boxes of bullets, plenty of LP primers and powder... plus two coffee cans full of primed brass. I don’t think finding fodder for the middle magnum will be an issue for me for a little while .

Good luck finding ammo, I’m sure you’ll come across some and get your new revolver out to the range soon :).

Stay safe.

I’d say I see more 41 magnum on the shelf in my area these days then much else.

Same here, I've seen a lot of .41 magnum. There's a whole stack of it on the shelf right this very second at Murdoch's in Westminster, CO. Figured I'd throw that out iffen somebody in the area needs it.

I bought a Ruger No 1 in 458 Win Mag.
Didn't realize brass has not been available for years. Going to try and fire form some from 300 Win Mag.
Thought for sure there would be a dusty ol' box on a shelf or warehouse somewhere.

Haven't seen anything I want to buy--but I would if the deal were right, and would worry about ammo later.

The reverse is not true, I've seen interesting ammo out there, but have not bought any for which I have no firearm.

Starline has brass available right now.

I bought one back when brass was unavailable but since I only planned to shoot cast bullets I used a combination of blown out 30-30 and 38-55 brass with no noticeable issues. I wouldn’t buy one if I weren’t a reloader.

Bought a ruger lc9 last weekend. Have enough 9mm to feed it. Also have a LCP ll that I currently do not have enough 380 to properly feed it. And I cant find any decently priced ammo. Thinking about trading or selling it. Would love to run across a 41mag. I would snap it up. Seems they are around when im broke. And now I have cash poof.

I bought a Hellcat on Black Friday. Its been a chore to find factory ammo but luckily I have some reloads being made for it.

I might buy a gun or two this year but it will hardly get shot. Ones I have already will hardly get shot also. Rationing is the new normal. The days of giving my friends ammo at the range like candy is over also, did that for day after Christmas range fun with family, but now it is solo shooting and sparingly for foreseeable future.

Same here, I was generous on a church range day and countless other times in the past because I get enjoyment out of seeing other people shoot and have fun. I am not the average shooter who brings a 50rd box to the range, I typically bring a .50cal ammo can full and shoot to my hearts content.

I treated myself today, took a break from the job I was working at in the middle of nowhere and broke out my G44 and a box of .22lr and spent a lil while wracking a steel popper target. Lead Therapy. I'll be shooting .22lr for a good bit before I have to worry.

I have a couple guns that I would like to buy if I find a deal, Ruger Predator 5.56 and possibly .44mag of some sort. Also maybe a .22lr Bolt action. But I have been seriously considering a black powder revolver in .44cal. I imagine BP is easier to come by and I love BP guns, just don't own any

Ammo be damned. Sometimes you’ve been looking for something so long you can’t say no when the deal comes along. While I’m not super deep in 9mm, I am comfortable enough. I bought yesterday a Ruger PC Charger. First one I’ve seen post COVID breakout at anything remotely close to regular pre COVID pricing.

About two months ago, I couldn't say no to a trade for a rifle in .243 Win. that I've never had ammo for previously. I was fortunate to luck into 3 boxes of ammo, at reasonable prices for it, within the first two weeks of ownership. I'm not going to push my luck again soon.
