Was browsing around a local forums classifieds and came across this beautiful 10-22 International with a Mannlicher stock. I spent 24 hours trying to talk myself out of buying it as I dont need another 22lr rifle. But the deal came with around 1700 rounds of ammo so that pushed me over the edge.

There is just something classic and beautiful about a Mannlicher stock to me.

Absolutely the only 10/22 to turn my eye since the 70's.

Todd.

I was just talking about that exact model with someone at work on Friday.

We both agreed I should have bought that one I found in a gunstore I saw it in the better part of a decade ago.

I have the same rifle but with a checkered walnut stock (10-22 Int. RBI W-Talo). A Williams peep sight (WGR5-RU 22, with the W6B gold bead 570 M 1/16" front sight set) makes for a very handy little .22 auto rifle.

The only 10/22 that’s ever spoken to me. I just wish it had a blued steel barrel and receiver........

I have looked at them every year as Christmas approaches and always talk myself down for the same reason. The sling point looks like an afterthought and takes a lot away from the gun, at least for me. It goes from being an absolute beauty to being “what’s that doohickey poking out randomly”. Well done OP, just get that sling point straightened out in your own way and make us all proud.

Doesn't that style sling swivel carry historical relevance in terms of design. I'm sure ruger modeled it after a specific model. The 1905 Schoonauer mannlicher rifle has the same exact type of sling attache thingy. It's a beautiful gun, maybe they were going for historical correctness?

Very nice gun, perhaps poor choice of a stock name as has been mentioned on this site before, but still very nice gun. lol

I have always wanted one of those Mannlicher stocked Internationals, walnut and blued steel for me! They have such a classic look.

Me too, exactly the same. Best little squirrel rifle in the world. I love it.

It gives some pizaz to the rifle.

The local fun store had a walnut/ss international on the wall for well over a year before I couldn't stand it any longer and caved. I absolutely love the way it feels. It just seems "right" to me. I put a Burris 2-7 on top and bought a few extra 10 round mags for it and that has been it. It doesn't seem to care what I feed it, it has shot it all so far.

I'm not sure what you mean; that's the way Ruger makes them.

Specifically, what would you advise him to do? I'm plenty proud for him already.

I will say that, just like with the same style front sling attachment on Ruger centerfire International models with the full-length stock, having a "quick-detachable" sling swivel at the butt end doesn't make the sling quick to remove.
