Awesome katana. I would like to see one in person. I imagine they are of extremely high quality. I wonder what kind of steel it is. It looks to have held up well....
Im not an expert, but the issued Ofc. Swords were mass-produced weapons, not handmade and folded. I dont see a hamon on that one (though it could be the lighting), so its probably a factory-made blade and the mounting on examples Ive seen is usually pretty poor actually.

Still a cool relic, but not a relic of the Samurai.

I wouldn't know about any of that. All my father in law, a 35 year career Army officer, told me was that the previous owner had no further use for it. After he passed I thought his son had found it and sold or pawned it. Found it years later, along with some other war memorabilia, in one of his many footlockers. As a footnote I would like to add that his unit was one of the first U.S. Military units into Nagasaki after the war. He, along with 80% of the soldiers in his command, died from some type of cancer. He fought a good fight for close to fifty years enduring treatments that would make your hair stand on end. Toughest SOB I've ever known.

What Gen is that? Which Gen did they do those type of slide serrations. Kind of neat.
Its Gen 3 "RTF2".

The grip texture is fine but aggressive, and it appears it is/was a bit too aggressive for a lot of people. Except for a couple of instances, its been discontinued as far as I know. I do wish they would bring it back, or at least offer it as an option. Its got a feel similar to fine stippling and the same effect. They are the only Glocks I dont stipple.

Stippling is also a great thing to do to your Glock knives. Major improvement on the grip.

The "gill's" on the slide were another something of that version that some dont seem to like. I dont really care one way or another. They are different though.

Some fine looking firearms and knives to go with them! Like the Rossi Model 511 with the Kabar and the Ruger SBH with the Case Swing Guard.

Hey, Bannockburn... I had to do a few "substitutions" in there -- but I'm glad someone got where I was going with it!

Always happy to give a fellow THR member plenty of literary license with whatever they're writing about!

Whats the big knife? Its gorgeous.......

Thanks so much, NIGHTLORD40K...! It's a custom Finnish leuku with some nice etchings that was gifted to my late FiL for performing some life-saving surgery on a client. He was proud of that gift... I knew it meant a lot to him. In his later years, my FiL said he wanted me to have it. I told him I couldn't possibly take something that meant so much to him. So he asked me if I had a dime. I pulled a dime out of my pocket and handed it to him. He handed me the knife and said, "Okay, now you bought it." :)

Not sure, but I'd place the chronology of the time the knife was given to him as some point in the 1950s. You can't tell from the photo, but the circle in the pommel is a still-perfectly functioning compass.

My FiL had a thing for the Finns. We inherited a bunch of post-modern Finnish "industrial art" glasswork. In going through his stuff, we also unearthed a puuko which made it into my knife collection. :)

I seldom have cause to take a pic of one of my handguns and knives together, but I took this one a while back.

I seldom "matched" my off-duty or retirement weapons and whatever knives I might be carrying at any particular time. (I usually carry 2-3 folding knives at any one time, for various anticipated tasks and needs.)

And this was a pic I took one day for some "EDC pocket dump" thread that struck my fancy, with the gear I had on me that day. I think the S&W M&P branded Xikar cigar cutter indicates I was getting ready to go relax and enjoy a quiet afternoon and evening at my cigar club. (The Xikar cutter was swag a S&W LE rep brought by the range one afternoon, for another instructor and I who were cigar smokers.)

That Redhawk appears to have a number of interesting mods to it. Mind telling us about it?
