What firearm have you owned the longest?

The gun that I have had the longest time would be my Mossberg 500 in 12 Gauge . I got in around 1982, made payments at the hardware store , and brought her home , I decided that a 12 Gauge would be a good start as you can hunt almost anything from squirrils to bears with one , and they work well as a home defense also , as a working kid on a budget it seemed to be a good plan. Before I got the shotgun I had bought a Marlin .22 that jammed all the time , but someone swiped that one

I've had my 870 Express for 23 years, got it when I was 17. The story is that it was time to pick out a high school class ring. Even though my parents never had a lot of disposable income my mom thought it was really important to have one, and comparing hers to the offerings they decided on giving me a budget of $300 to pick out a ring.

Well, this was also around the time a neighbor who I baled hay for was trying to convince me to start deer hunting. I had recently spent all the money I had saved up buying my first truck, and Dad only had a couple .22's and a youth .410. But it just so happened Dick's put up their 870 Express combo package for sale at $300 that week. I asked if I could get the gun with the ring money instead; Mom thought it was a horrible idea and that I'd regret it, but Dad thought that a gun was much more useful than a ring and it was one of the few disagreements I remember Dad winning. All of my friends were pretty jealous when they'd ask where my class ring was and I'd tell them it was at home in a gun case, every one responded with "I wish I had thought of doing that!!"

I couldn't tell you how many thousand rounds have gone through it, and it's so broken in I've never picked up an 870 with an action as smooth as this one's. It served as my deer gun until a few years ago when Ohio allowed straight walled rifle cartridges and I got a .357 lever action, and I occasionally still used it for clays and dove up through this year when I wanted to throw more lead than my 20ga. The 12ga Benelli semi-auto I just got last month might finally prevent me from getting the 870 out of the safe much in the future, but it's served its purpose for 23 years and I have no regrets skipping out on a class ring!

I bought a pre-owned S&W Model 58 in 1985, and was documentably carrying it as a duty handgun by late 1985. I still have it, and it still shoots, though it would be best to have action tightened, either by peening/stretching and fitting existing parts, or replacing and fitting new parts. N-Frames are, really, too large for my K/L-Frame-sized hands to shoot double-action, so I am unlikely to be shooting this one with my aging hands, anymore, anyway.

I bought a Seecamp LWS-25 some time in the mid-Eighties, and still have it, though the firing pin failed, so it would need to be repaired, in order to shoot it. (I removed the bushing, spring, and firing pin, then used it as a training prop, for my rookies to find, to prove that they searched an area well enough. I cannot be certain whether I bought the Seecamp before or after the S&W Model 58. The gun store is long gone, having been a total loss in a fire, and I doubt anyone kept the business going after the FFL holder passed away, so researching the sale date would be problematic.

I grew up in a non-gun-owning family, so did not start buying long guns until late 1979, at the earliest, and handguns, until late 1982, at the earliest.

The first firearm I ever bought was an Russian SKS with a laminated stock. I was doing new to me house maintenance in Virginia. I had just moved there from nazi jersey. I needed some hardware so I went to the nearest hardware store. Much to my surprise the store was stocked to the gills with old war surplus firearms and a very small rack of hardware. This was in Lynchburg VA I was working for United Express at the time. So I walked out of there with a receipt for an SKS and a bag of screws. I've had it for since 1995. from there the firearm flood gates opened and now I have over 35 firearms of all types in the safe a few Mosin's of coarse Remington 870's and a couple 700's. The gun in my profile pic is a Bergara B-14 BMP topped with a Sightron SIII 8-32 x56.

Remington Model 511. Bolt action .22. Probably about 1953. A gift from my parents. It has accounted for many woodchucks, pigeons and other small game over the years. I think there was Daisy BB gun before that which I still have.

My first firearm, like so many of my fifties era kinfolk, was a Winchester Model 67, .22, single-shot, bolt-action rifle that my dad gave to me on Christmas of 1957, when I was fourteen years old. A couple of years ago, I gave it to my oldest daughter for Christmas.

My second firearm, and one that I still own and hunt with, is a Browning Double Auto shotgun that I bought new in 1961. I still regard it as the best auto shotgun ever made for hunting grouse and woodcock in heavy cover.

In '79 I bought a S&W model 19 as my first gun. It was stolen for an hour the following year before tracking down the thief.
In 2009 on the 30th anniversary of the purchase I posed with it and the same clerk who sold it to me!
A factory tuneup and it is still smooth as butter.

Gonna keep it for life so I can tell my 40 year old nephew I've had guns longer than he's had fingers! (he's a musician)

"What firearm have you owned the longest? When did you get it? Do you still own it?"

Well, I'm a gun whore. I buy what I want. Sell what no longer pleases me. Probably been through a hundred or so.

Without a doubt, the firearm I have owned the longest is my Marlin Glenfield M-60.
Bought it well-used in 1982-83, still have it. Can't remember the last time I shot it, probably ought to send it to my nephew who might get some use out of it.

Runner-up would be my S&W M-66 no-dash, bought in 2004 or so.
Still shoot it somewhat regularly.

Just loaded up 50 rounds of 158 gr FP with Blue Dot. Guess I need to go burn up some of those rounds...and maybe load some more :)

Not really sure it counts?
A pellet rifle Diana Model 24 D from 1968.
Still popping occasionally a squirrel in my backyard.

Of course, only during hunting season or when being attacked...............

Mom and Dad gave me a Savage 24 22/20 for Christmas in ‘68 or ‘69. I’ve still got it.
Dad bought himself a Winchester 1400 16 gauge and we walked many miles of fence rows hunting rabbits when we lived in Kentucky.
I’ve bought two Savage 24s in the last month.

The first firearm I bought was a Marlin 60 in the early 90s, which broke the first time I shot it. Long story, but due to me being clueless about guns back then and some poor customer service it never got fixed.

I actually still own it. Last year I set up an old glass door gun rack in my living room and have it in display.

The oldest gun I ever owned was a Yugo SKS that I wish I didn't sell.

Currently was oldest gun is a S&W 63 that was made in 1998 I believe
