(1) Nationwide majorities only support AWB’s when the poll doesn’t define terms in such a way that the respondents understand them; many respondents think they are giving their opinion on banning automatic weapons. And even with the deliberate conflation of civilian-only semiautos with military select-fire rifles, many polls in the last few years *still* have a plurality opposing new bans. Ban support is much lower now than it was in the ‘90s and early 00’s.

(2) It is a measure of how extreme proposed U.S. “assault weapon” bans are that many of them ban guns that are legal across much of Europe, although the EU is trying to change that. You can even own .22LR “assault weapons” in *England* that I believe would get you serious prison time in New York.
 
Hey Paul, I meant if our vote actually means something in the future. That was just a jab at the current condition of our country at this minute. I’m going to stand in faith that it will be changing shortly :) Hey Ford, had to send it to Kentucky for a rebuild but it’s back to being boringly accurate:)
 
Ammo prices can be scary in panic times.

I do not buy ammo in panics (newbies buying tons of guns and ammo) or when there are threats of firearms bans (the National Machine Democrats threatening to undo Heller '08 and McDonald '10 or rewrite or repeal the the Second Amendment).

Anyone who doesn't maintain a five year stockpile for normal use has failed to heed the lessons from the 1968 GCA onwards.

Buy in sane times. Don't panic.

They can do anything they want. It doesn't have to follow logic or, lets say, the constitution. They draft a bill, everyone signs it, the supreme court doesn't challenge it, and the rest of us have to live with it. Gun owners need to stop viewing politicians as "loony" or whatever other silly words come to mind. They are extremely sharp, aggressive, and without a care in the world about your personal safety or rights.
 
I won’t pay the stupid prices being asked. I did buy 2 packs of CCI MiniMag today at Walmart. $22 for 300 rounds per pack.

I’m good for ammo. Have enough components to reload for maybe two years at my rate, which isn’t very much. I might reload a couple of hundred rounds a month. I’m not shooting much, if at all, other than .22. I have probably 16,000 rounds of that. Gonna hold onto my center fire until things stabilize. If they do.

My new mission will be primer, powders, and bullets.
 
i dont remember a time when i could go blow up a brick of 22 ammo. when i was in the 6th grade i had saved for years to buy a marlin model 39.

i remember it was the most expensive 22 rifle at wal mart. 104$

i never could afford a brick of ammo to shoot all in one weekend. i cud afford maybe 3 bricks a year and when xmas came around my wonderfull gparents would get my brother and i each a brick. that was the best present they could ever give us.

if a boy want to shoot he will shoot. maybe not as much as he likes but he will still shoot.

mite make him a better shot?

You're right, for a boy with a .22lr rifle a brick of ammo would be the best Christmas present ever, besides maybe a puppy or something.
 
Went to the local shop yesterday, first time since well before Christmas. Very, very few guns and almost no ammo. Still walked out with a Ruger Go-Wild American 6.5CM. :D
 
My local range is charging something like $60 for a 325 round pack of Federal auto match. I've yet to buy any .22LR from them since they are beyond over price. I checked into my regular small LGS at lunch to see if they had any ammo. Looks like they had gotten a bunch of .22LR traded in. Not as cheap as it used to be but still way cheaper than the range.

Ended up getting a 555 box of Winchester, 325 box of Federal Automatch and 100 rds of Stingers ended up paying $140 for it all. The Stingers were $12 for 50 rds. I have a bunch already but Stingers are extremely hard to get it. Should be enough to last 2 or 3 range sessions. Still way cheaper than 9mm

Too much, a 100 rd rack of CCI Select was $30, a 250 rd box of Aguila was like $65? $20 for 50 rds of Tula match. There's only one place that has .22LR at a decent price but its rare he has bulk. He was selling the same 100rd pack of CCI Select for half the price. I got lucky one trip and he had a 1400 rd Remington Bucket o Bullets for $80. I have plenty of ammo but im only shooting what I buy lately and saving my stash for if things get crazy

Bought two 100 round pack of Remington subsonic .22lr for $6.78 each at Walmart..........in the stash it goes
 
Wow, not too long ago a bought a bulk pack of Federal Black - 1100 rounds was $69

That’s actually cheap for current standards. Most of it is .30 a round or higher now. One shop online is selling CCI for 1.60 a round. I just became a gun owner last summer, but even I know these prices are nuts.
 
And please don't say it can't get any worse. Every time I look thru an ammo site or reloading site, more things are unavailable. Many, many products are no longer available for back order; they are simply "Out of Stock". Most LGS look like a Moscow grocery store. This is much worse than the BHO years and will continue to get worse. Buckle up folks and enjoy the stash you have or sell to each other.
 
I don't really do very much online. Look up product reviews and check this forum daily but one of the things I liked doing was looking at guns and ammo, checking price and availability, etc... I don't know why, but I just got a simple enjoyment out of looking up and buying ammo. Now, I've basically stopped checking. I have had way more luck in the shops than online. I have signed up for alerts and all that but aside from that, it's just fruitless at the moment. I just feel grateful I have what I have for now.

I will be relieved when I see things settle. I'm trying to calibrate my shooting and expectations toward something like a 4-5 year drought. It's not exciting, I might have to do a lil trading of what I have alot of for what I have little of.
 
I'll be shooting more .22lr than anything, and try to limit my shooting to repetitive, 1 and 2 shot shooting drills to keep the muscles moving.

I have 3 full .50cal ammo cans, 2 of them are filled with bulk stuff, 1 is filled right to the top with Stingers, PMC match, Aguila, Mini Mags. I don't want to dip into my better stuff so it's my hope that if I shoot my bulk sparingly, and if I can pick up a bulk pack occasionally to just keep rotating out of 1 can. Good a plan as any I guess.

Not shooting my 9mm is a bummer, but not having any is more of a bummer. I'd rather have it and restrain from shooting than be restrained from shooting it because I don't have it....

No kidding. I got into a pretty bad funk myself through last summer into the fall, dealing with everything the year had brought on. Compounding it was my profession and some angst with dealing with so many really bad CoV19 patients and the stress that came with my concerns about keeping myself and my family safe. I even broke away from THR for quite some time.

Honestly, I really don't even know for sure what brought me back as far as I've come. Maybe "unplugging" had at least something to do with it. I have to admit that a lot of my YT time was still on guns, though. ;)
 
I have been selling off a bunch of my excess ammo. I figure in a year the prices will come back down and I can buy it all back.
