Howdy

I don't get over here very often. I bought my S&W 9mm 1911 Pro maybe two years ago. I like it a lot, but my thumbs kill me trying to stuff rounds into the magazines. I usually only stuff five rounds in because the magazine springs are so strong. I'm not really new to semi-auto pistols, I have bought a few over the years, but I'm really not up on magazine loaders.

The two magazines that came with it are made by Wilson Combat.

Anyway, I'm looking for advice on magazine loaders, or what ever you call them. I have a couple for my rimfire Ruger Mark II, and I bought one for a Browning Hi Power a bazillion years ago, but I am not up on the latest in magazine loaders. I see one advertised as universal, that it can be used with any magazine of any caliber. I'm pretty sure the one I bought long ago for my Hi Power was pretty specific to it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I have a Caldwell mag charger thats universal. I bought it at Walmart on clearance for a few dollars. It works well enough. Unless I'm shooting or loading a few hundred rounds I don't bother though

UpLula for me as well... I load 1911, Glock, Smith, etc. mags of all different calibers. Got a pink one for the Mrs. (no one will steal it) and she is MUCH happier on quarterly qualification days loading her Glock 17 duty mags.

If you decide to go with an UpLula make sure to get the real deal and not a counterfeit. Maglula is suing Amazon for selling fakes.

Your best bet to get the real thing would be to order from a dealer like MidwayUSA.

One more thing - years back I emailed UpLula with a question (I believe it was about an UpLula for the CZ 75 Kadet Kit mags) and got a response from the president of the company. I was impressed with that level of customer service. Good folks.

I always find it a bit of a head scratcher when I find folks on gun forums are buying their gun stuff from Amazon and not Brownell's, MidwayUSA, Top Gun Supply, Wilson Combat, etc.

If I can save half the price then I can just donate that much. I pay for extra subscriptions to bad magazines as well as support state and local organizations with money I save on some things.

I spent 200 bucks just a minute ago on midway (I rounded up too, of course) But sometimes I do buy on Amazon.

And maybe everyone else is too smart to ever have this happen, but there is a little lock gizmo that will lock it — apparently so it will take up less space or something. If it happens by accident you’re sure the loader is jammed. It isn’t, you just have to move a catch.

Must not have read all the instructions when I got my UpLula years ago, didn’t realize you could also unload mags with the little button until I saw the Amazon clone videos.

Uplula
Never knew about a single stack spacer. Use it on 1911 Wilson, mec, checkmate mags, xds mags, and a multitude of double stacks with no issues

Thanks Everybody

I don't think I have ever seen such unanimous support for a single product.

I went to Midway USA and ordered a Maglula UpLula this morning. I ordered it in dark green, couldn't quite bring myself to order the pink one, but at least it won't be basic black.

It should get here in about a week, I will issue a report when it gets here. Maybe I'll even have a 9mm day at the range with my S&W 1911, my old Hi Power, a S&W Model 59 and a S&W Model 39. I'll leave the Luger and the P-38 home, their trigger pulls are awful. Well, really stiff anyway.

Wise choice, Grasshopper! I liked the maglula pistol mag loader so much that I got two for my AR15 magazines!

I bought an uplula years ago for double stack 9 mm magazines. I have since gotten out of the double stack business and am not certain where the thing is. I'm still tough enough to load single stack mags.
