We are under assault.

I won't make predictions, however there are two things which have me concerned. First, I'm guessing the Dems have learned that they may have two years to push through their policies, as maintaining control of the house is not guaranteed, as we've seen on the past. It's not unreasonable to think they'll go for broke and push through whatever anti 2A laws they can to appease the far left. Second, there's no one to stop them from doing what they want, as the MSM not only does not hold them accountable but outright lies to protect them and the major social media companies silence opposing points of view.

Indeed!

Even if they pass the proposals, will they enforce the new laws? They don't enforce the current laws so my guess is they will not enforce the new proposed laws if passed. They will just pass more laws.

It really will come down to the states. Either they will enforce it or they won’t. That’s why we are seeing some of the states working on becoming 2nd amendment sanctuaries. Just one more division in America. That also brings in the question of how far will they go to force state compliance? I mean what’s next are they gonna sanction states in their own country to try to force compliance? At this point nothing would surprise me. The AOC said we need to get rid of all the cows because they produce too much methane. That could lead to a punishable crime for farting lol

Stop with the alarmism. Gun bills are going nowhere. Just look at the congressional math. The Democrats have tiny margins and little political capital, which they will have to spend on the major crises confronting the country. And they are not unified in being antigun.

Yeah, and the Titanic was just stopping to pick up some ice for the bar... ;)

They would threaten to withold Federal funding for schools, law enforcement, infrastructure, etc. This- mixed with some degree of stepped up raids and sting operations by Federal agents.

Yeah, I think we have wandered off the OP's intent. No, the satellite does not beam instructions to the moderators.

Closed.

EXECUTIVE ORDERS:

On this subject, the President cannot legislate through Executive Orders. That is the sole domain of Congress. However, he CAN clarify a stand/interpretation where the existing laws may be vague or otherwise unclear.

(The attorneys on the site feel free to expound on my understanding here.)

H.R. 127:

It won't pass for a variety of reasons. One of which is the fact that, despite a significant number of politicians in Congress having a law background, it's readily apparent why they're in politics and not the attorney business.

There are too many things in the bill which have been shot down in the past. Requiring a license for possession of firearms and ammunition, for example, is an outright infringement of a clearly protected right within the Constitution. (Note that I did not say it is a Constitutional right. There's a difference.) You can't pre-emptively license a right. The right exists, and to remove that right (or deny it) requires due process.

Likewise, a federal firearms registration database has been addressed before, as well. It's against federal law.

Requiring a psychological evaluation means providing medical information in order to qualify for or exercise a right.

And I have NO idea where this "firearms insurance" comes from...except as an added (significant) expense to exercise a right.

I don't think this bill can go anywhere. Even watered down, it would not amount to any improvement over existing laws once you cut all the chaff out. And while the Democrats have the majority in the House and Senate right now (Counting the VP in the Senate), they do NOT have enough to risk the 2022 elections over. (Though they're sure to try anyway.)

Regardless, let your representative know your feelings...and by "representative", I mean ALL of your representatives, whether they're politically aligned with you or not.

“H.R.127”

As has likely already been correctly noted: we are not ‘under assault.’

Such ‘legislation’ is introduced every session.

It has no cosponsors.

It has been assigned to a committee it will never leave.

It has zero chance of passing.

It’s best to address these facts only, not engage in baseless demagoguery.
