On November 7th, I sent in an order for a Tyler T-grip. My check was cashed on 11/16. Hadn't received the grip, so I sent them a text on 1/22, got no response. I called them today, 2/1, and was advised that the voice mail box was full.

I have purchased them before (years ago) and while they were not particularly speedy, it was nothing like this.

Anyone have recent experience ordering from them? If so, how long did you have to wait?

Mailboxes being full usually sets me to thinking ill but then, it is Monday and so many people are getting squeezed on their end with labor and working conditions.

I'd give it to Wednesday before too much concern.

Todd.

These folks are known to not use modern devices; google them here and you'll see threads going back years where their CS sucks and their delivery makes the USPS looks like Fedex overnight. Patience is the way to go.

I have bought a lot of Tyler Ts over the years. Some have taken a little time but I always got them. Tyler ceased operations a few years ago I believe due to the owner or operators death. Used Ts went through the roof. If I recall correctly, a family member took over. I called and spoke to him about a slow order. If I recall correctly he was about the only full time employee. I believe he said he hired some part timers to polish.

With small shops, it is sometimes hard to gauge whether your order is just a victim of slow production, or if it was lost in the shuffle.

It is aggravating when the web sites offer a grossly inaccurate delivery estimate, Tylers says 3-4 weeks, been 3 months so far.

Hopefully it will come in soon.

For a manufactured product, even 3-4 weeks is out there.

I understand small operation, but hire some more folks.

JN- I have the same experience, the dates also very similar to yours and same experience trying to contact.

As noted above, its no secret that the original owner/maker of T grips passed away some time ago.
A quick Google search or search on this forum will detail some of the issues with T grips.

Thank you to all of our customer that have waited patiently for your orders to be completed.
We have finalized our move to the new location. We have continued to work through our log of back orders during the COVID Pandemic. Despite a lack of materials from our raw goods suppliers and our own staffing tribulations we are now producing at full capacity. We are shipping all back orders and hope to be caught up soon and will be stocking inventory ready for shipment. Thank you again for all the support from our wonderful customers and community of revolver enthusiast.

WEEKLY UPDATE
Working this week to package and ship out the bulk of the back orders for the flat and shiny black powder coated T-Grips.

All manufacturers have experienced logistical delays the last year. I shipped out a customers pistols Saturday morning and USPS hasn't even scanned them in as of five minutes ago.

I do not doubt that the increase in firearm sales means increased demand for T grips.

The unreliability of the Tyler folks caused me to go with BK. Tyler was my first pick , but information I gathered here dissuaded me.

My guess is your product will arrive eventuality, and I wish you good luck.

(quite happy with my second choice , for future reference.)

The Tyler product has a reputation for high quality , and it is made of metal. Some are aluminum , others brass , I think?

The BK counterpart is , admittedly , plastic , but is well made and has the advantage of 2 pairs of mating tangs as opposed to the Tyler 1 pair.

BK grip adaptors , for those considering the alternative---

On another forum i frequent members are staing wait times of 6 months to a year. They’re quick about cashing the check and slow about sending product. If you want a T now shop ebay or forum want ads, be quick on the button and prepared to pay a higher price than you want.

BK is way better if you value service and communication.

I have a number of the T Grips, and I now have more of the BK grips.

Last T Grip I bought was back right after the owner died and it took forever to get it. Not to mention, they are a PITA to deal with.

BK is great to deal with, and truthfully, I think he has a better product. The double set of clips is more secure, and the fit has been generally better.

He doesnt offer a silver version for some reason, and I think he'd do better if he did. Not sure what the cream colored version he has is supposed to match up to.

If he has them in stock, they ship right out, and I usually have it in a couple of days.

Another satisfied BK customer here. Wish it weren't plastic, and wish there was a silver one. But then again I had it within a week of ordering it, and it fits great.

Sorry to hear about the struggles with the T-grip, hope they get you sorted out. If you want something to fill in on the meantime, the BK adapters are a good product, affordable, and available.

I sent a money order to upper Vermont for a .410. That was Monday last week. The shop called me yesterday, Monday a week later, to verify my contact info and my FFL info. I said great, you must have my money order. Nope. I told the gentleman that a letter from Pa to Vt shouldn't take over a week. Fortunately I have excellent feedback, so they know that it's not me. Wonder how long the shotgun will take to get here.

The biggest issue is with first-class mail, not parcels.

All the above in this thread is pretty much why I couldn't get a T-Grip last summer and opted for a black polymer BKGrip instead. It's not as nice looking as a bare metal T-Grip, but it does the job.

I have talked to the guy at BK grips before and he is a really nice person to talk to. And he remembers you. I had asked about a grip adapter for a Ruger security six and he said he didn't know if his would fit or not. Several months later he emailed me and said he thought one of the grip adapters would fit my gun. But I had sold the gun by then. But it impressed me that he remembered me and what I wanted. I need to order three grips from him for a model 28, model 31 and a model 10.

Got my one and only Tyler T-Grip adapter over 40 years ago for my S&W Model 38. It was nickel plated so the polished aluminum went perfectly with the shiny look. It's been on several other J frames and one stainless Rossi but whenever I sold or traded that gun the T-Grip always stayed with me. Currently still residing on my Model 649 and sure to be there for many years to come!

USPS is really in a bad way, and only getting worse.

I keep hearing this, but I'm going to step in and defend them. I know they're overworked. My letter carrier makes two full runs every day. 12 hr days. When I look at the cost I pay for shipping, and the delivery time, compared to UPS and FedEx, the USPS is a really good value-even considering the recent conditions. I'll keep voting for them with my dollars.

I bought a Tyler T grip back in 20.....thinking back......12 maybe. It must not have been an unreasonable timeframe as I don't recall complaining about it. I highly doubt the recent surge in gun sales is impacting sales of T grips. Those grips are for old school revolvers. Almost nobody is buying those recently.
