Tyler T-grip experiences

You may hold the record for number of postings of the same revolver here on THR , probably for any type of firearm!
And as far as I'm concerned , the welcome will never , ever run out.

What a beautiful gun.

On another forum i frequent members are staing wait times of 6 months to a year. They’re quick about cashing the check and slow about sending product. If you want a T now shop ebay or forum want ads, be quick on the button and prepared to pay a higher price than you want.

BK is way better if you value service and communication.

I guess my wait is just starting. I almost went with BK, but prefer the look of the polished aluminum. Oh well, they will get here some day.

For those that have the BKs, how does it fit on the round butt K-frame? I see the one they offer is supposed to fit both the round and square butt.

The biggest issue is with first-class mail, not parcels.
Actually it's everything. First class, Express and Priority mail are all affected equally by the surge in shipping going on since last February. Both UPS and FedEx have contracts with USPS and when an airplane is full, its full.

I bought a Tyler T grip back in 20.....thinking back......12 maybe. It must not have been an unreasonable timeframe as I don't recall complaining about it. I highly doubt the recent surge in gun sales is impacting sales of T grips. Those grips are for old school revolvers. Almost nobody is buying those recently.

Considering most newly made revolvers come with grips that don't need and can't take a grip adapter, yeah I'd agree with that.

Of course, there seem to be a lot of old revolvers changing hands now that never had a grip adapter, yet the new owner is seeking a grip adapter.

As I understand it, Tyler makes the adapters in batches. When enough orders come in, they have a batch poured. Then they knock off the casting gated and start the finishing process. Depending on how many castings get deadhoused, the rest are finished and shipped. Not sure if it is much beyond a one man operation but it is slow and slower.

You have some options if you want a metal adapter. eBay has them as do some gun shows. Not cheap but, it is only money. Or, wait for Tyler.

BK has a decent product from what folks I have faith in tell me. Check them out.

I have picked up a few on eBay and other auction sites. They aren't common or cheap, but they are out there if you search. Found one for cheap at a flea market once, one for a gun I didn't even have. Sold it and made a couple of bucks while making another guy happy.

Don't I know it. I haven't seen a pre lock revolver in a LGS for under $800 (most are at $1k) in quite a while.

I would like a skinny barrel model 10 or M&P 38 Special 4" barrel and there are many listed but not for what I am willing to pay. Now I don't even look at the the guns. I just scroll across the prices till I see one in the range I am willing to pay for one. And then look at the gun. And those guns all look like they have been through a house fire or found in a flood after the water receded. Nope. If I'm going to buy I will buy a clean gun or none at all. So far it looks like none at all. Lol. But I'm patient.

Checked out the listings on E-Bay and had to laugh at the ludicrous pricing. One in OK condition had a current bid at $36 with 3 days left, it may go for a reasonable price. The others range from $75-129. One priced at $79 has 75% of the black finish worn off. Somebody else is trying to get $20 for an empty box a grip came in. Maybe someone will want one bad enough to pay that much, wouldn't be me though.

A bit off topic but ... The "skinny barrel" M&P I showed in post #13 of this thread cane to me via GBroker about 2 1/2 years back for approx $240. It had splotches of surface rust ; I gambled that the oxidization was very topical and would rub out easily , based on the images and discussion with the seller. (great guy) My gamble paid off. I'd imagine that if it were offered on that site today , orange spots and all , it would bring twice that , at least.

$75 - $100 for a Tyler grip adapter? Crazy times.

Its the whole shootin match, so to speak. :)

USPS is really in a bad way, and only getting worse.

I keep hearing this, but I'm going to step in and defend them. I know they're overworked. My letter carrier makes two full runs every day. 12 hr days. When I look at the cost I pay for shipping, and the delivery time, compared to UPS and FedEx, the USPS is a really good value-even considering the recent conditions. I'll keep voting for them with my dollars.

Case in point: I ordered a knife from knifecenter.com on Jan. 15th. They didn't ship it until Feb. 2nd. Today is the 5th. It's already at my local post office to be delivered tomorrow. Four days from the east coast to Alaska. Too bad knifecenter isn't run as well.

On the other hand, it seems like 2 day Priority Mail is a thing of the past, it's at least 3 days from my current experience, and forget about first class.

My Christmas card to my son in HI, mailed Dec.18, arrived last week.

Got my T-grip today, couple of days short of 4 months. Longer than expected, but not near as bad as some have reported.

They look great.

with so many other grip options around today, the Tyler-T grip adaptor just doesn't have the appeal it did when grip choices were more sparse.

Magna grips with a T grip adapter fit my hand better than any other D.A. grips I have tried. Thankfully, I already have all the ones I need.

I placed an order in February of 2020, the check was deposited in March. I tried checking on the status of the order in October by leaving telephone messages when their voicemail box wasn't full, also left text messages.......heard nothing from the company. I had given up on ever seeing my order and was contemplating filing fraud charges, but it arrived a couple of weeks ago.
It's a great product but the company's customer-service model stinks.

If the demand is there, they certainly need to expand their operation.

Answer calls and emails or attend to production, you obviously can't do both with limited manpower.

I think they look and feel awesome but I could never do business with someone who can't communicate with me after processing my payment. It's too bad. They have a good product and someone could make some good money if they took the business seriously.
