RM Vivas Is The Man!! Unbelievable History of my NYPD Model 10. ***Pics***

I had a post on here a few weeks ago about my Pre Model 10. A factory letter confirmed it was an NYPD gun shipped in October 1946. I reached out to RM Vivas, who has an unbelievable database of NYPD gun history. He got back to me today. First, the gun again:











I get an email response today from Mr. Vivas. Here is his response:

"Your gun #S846515 was sold on 16OCT46 to Probationary Patrolman Daniel C. Hynes, Shield #13855.



It would appear that he got some good use from it.

He also included 4 newspaper clippings on Officer Hynes. He used my gun in a shootout with 4 gang members at a local high school. A high school located in my old precinct! Hynes was awarded a medal for valor for his actions. He was a young cop and a veteran of World War II.

I did most of my time in the 77 but spent a few months in the 75 before I left the job. Small world!

So I’m thinking maybe send it in for a reblue and replace the worn out grips with a nice new set

For sure. Won’t touch a thing.

Just reread the articles. Two separate incidents. The one with the kids outside the high school was written on April 10, 1951. Hynes broke up the fight the previous da and recovered the unloaded gun. No shots fired.

The one that got him the medal was from his gunfight outside a tavern on December 11, 1950.

Quite the active guy. Must have had a hell of a career.
