I bought the improved primer catch from inline fabrication and it’s working great to catch all the spent primers. However, it is contacting the ram and making a squeezing noise. Obviously these are 3D printed and every press/3D printed catch is a little different, but should I just let it go? Sand it a little? Anyone else have this issue?

I was looking up the McDonald’s straw solution for the front end to direct all primers to the rear. I am having issues with them spitting out the front so I want to try this. The picture I saw was to cut the straw 2 inches, and then a little notch at one end. Is that supposed to go in the hole in the center of the ram?

I’m sorry, but all you guys complain about spent primers on the floor, when your mom or grandma made biscuits-did they worry about spilling a little flour on the floor?
Heck, no, they just got something and cleaned it up.
Sooo...
Next time you drop spent primers in the floor, have your mom or grandma clean them up.

Just looked it up, $29.50 for less than fifty cents worth of material, what a racket they've got going. Not all printed FDM sands well and you could end up regretting that. Perhaps a bit of dry silicone lube on the surface causing the noise.

My view is why make a mess to clean up when you don't have to.

I fixed my RC 2 this way:

besides a hose below to direct primers to the trash can, it also kicks the brass out saving another step. It does use the McDonalds straw ....... works well.

An important step was to make a transition ramp to remove the flat between the tube and casting bottom.

My mamma would slap my mouth if i asked her that

I assume the OP has a Rockchucker IV,,,,,
My Inline Fab spent primer catcher doesn't 'drag', but I can't see how it would be detrimental to the press if it did.
I apologize as I am not aware of a primer-related McD straw mod,

I use to not worry about a few primers escaping the old RCII but when I can cut a free straw and keep it from happening why not. Saves my old self from having to clean the damn things up...

I have never found this a problem, have the same catch bin since my father bought it in 1975. Just got used to is I guess.

I have found out that just placing a rolled up piece of paper towel, or a foam ear plug, or whatever behind the upper part of the primer catcher so that it lightly rubs on the ram catches just about every primer. Simple and free.

Picture please?

Anything that will LIGHTLY press the primer tube against the ram will work. I use a piece of paper towel. Just make sure the ram can still move up and down without catching on the primer tube. This catches all but a couple "flyers". It is the space between the primer tube and the ram that allows used primers to fall out the sides.

I like your thinking but my Wife is not about to clean up my primers nor will my Mom.

I have the same press, a RC ll, and I also have not had a problem with primers flying everywhere unless I am using my universal decapper with the spring loaded punch pin. It will launch them across the room.
If I use one with a fixed punch pin they just fall in the factory original tray that's been on my press since I bought it new.
I don't slam the primers out of my fired brass but I don't baby them either. I'm usually de-priming at warp ll, like most of us do but when the punch pin hits the primer, I push instead.
I do have one escape now and then, like one out in every 300 or so, but I don't consider that a problem.
An educated hand goes a long ways toward making your spent primers behave when pushing them out.
I can't speak to sanding on the one you bought, I have no experience with them.
