Here we go again!!! 44 mag

More specificity please. The question is not clear.

I usually use Unique, 2400, or H110.
I have never used Lilgun before. I'm fan of H110/296, 2400 I've also read Lilgun heats
barrel fast.

Ah, much more clear. I tried a pound of Lil’ Gun and after testing it did not see any reason to change my other loads for it, so stopped buying it. I did pick up some Universal and really like it...similar to Unique IIRC.

I'd use W296/H110 for full power 44 Magnum loads. But, most of my 44 Magnum ammunition is loaded with Unique to mid-range levels.

I have not used 2400 since then 1980's. It would leave too many unburned kernels in the gun after firing. I believe Alliant has changed 2400 a bit since they acquired the powder line from Hercules.

I tried a pound of Lil Gun 10-15 years ago, mostly for .410 shells. It really did not excite me over W296 in the .410. I do not remember if I tried it in any metallic cartridges. If I did, it would have been 357 Magnum.

But others will have different opinions.

Lil Gun has a following in the 450 Bushmaster crowd but just as many do not like it for throat erosion problems. I have personally never seen it but if enough people say so and nobody gives any disadvantages to the other choices, I tend to just avoid the product. May not have any problems with 44 magnum but I have never heard of any problems with the 3 I listed.

Lil Gun is interesting because it yields more velocity than H110 but as soon as Bob Baker warned against it due to increased throat erosion, I stopped using it.
Same here. Since it did not give me much more than H110/W296 in terms of velocity, and was somewhat less accurate, once there was shown to be a risk of excessive and premature forcing cone erosion by it's use in revolvers, I gave up on it. For a while it was the wonder powder, but now you hardly ever hear of it anymore when it comes to it's use in revolvers. I have gotten so I like IMR4227 in .44 mag, especially in the carbines. Not quite the velocity of H110/W296, but very accurate and less temperature sensitive. It likes to be compressed or nearly compressed, a heavy crimp and 240gr and above projectiles.

Yeah, it doesn't really gain enough to risk erosion, if it's bad enough for a manufacturer to warn against it. Still use more H110 than anything but 300MP is growing on me. Just not as much data. I've never heard anyone complain that they couldn't find an accurate load with 4227.

I use 300-MP in .44 mag with 300-310gr bullets. It works well. I have no idea how it performs with 240s though. A good powder for certain applications, but based on my experimentation with it for .357 mag and .41 mag, it's not as flexible as some other powders.

I have all that powder and some... now I just need the .44 mag!

Lets trade, at the current price of powder. half bottle of H110 for a .44 Mag?!?!?!?!!!! any takers

I have been experimenting with AA#7 for mid loads and Enforcer is next on my list
but I have used BE86 / Unique and 2400 all did well

If your loading for a revolver with 180-240 grain bullets give 800X a look. Less muzzle blast, no muzzle flash, and even slightly less recoil than similar velocities with H110/W296.

I tried it in .357 and .44 Mag. and wasn't impressed, on the other hand the remains of the 1lb. cannister did wonders for the little woman's Roses.:D

Only time I saw lilgun locally it was more expensive than h110. I run Unique for light loads and h110 for max loads. Recently picked up some 2400 but haven't loaded with it yet. Oh, and @Mark_Mark I'll trade you 10 lpp for that half pound of h110! Jk
10 primers!!!!! you sound generous. let me talk it over with my financial advisor. May I please have “right of refusal”
