So after hearing several members here talking about finding sp101 revolvers with decent, passable, or even great triggers, I decided to look at a 3" sp101 consignment gun at my LGS. Just a basic sp101, but that sweet little revolver started talking to me as soon as it landed in my hand. Great heft, grip fit my hand ok, it points great, and suprise of my life, the trigger was smooth! It pulled with just the slightest stack at the very end! Nothing like every other sp101 I have ever looked at. It actually felt like a s&w k frame trigger in double action. I asked if I could get out the door for 600. 595 bucks later its mine. The gal that had it consigned is even giving me a full box of ammo for 20 more bucks. Needless to say I am very happy. Waiting on the waiting period here in Washington to take it home. Finally I have a 357 after a 19 yr break...

If i am only getting 5 rounds I'm going to carry something much lighter.

Mostly this will be a trail gun. Or a camp gun for local spots. I still will be packing a 44 in griz country, but this sp101 could pair nicely with my rossi levergun for deer hunting and sharing ammo..

Good for you in finally finding an SP101 with a workable trigger! Sounds like a great companion to go with your Rossi M92 as well!
 
Nice. Dunno if anything has been done to that one but a 10lb Wolff spring is cheap and easy to install and makes a difference. I always swap them out immediately
 
Of all my revolvers, my Dansby tuned 3" 101 has the smoothest da trigger of the bunch.
 
Years back I picked up a stainless GP100, a retired security gun that was filthy inside and out. I disassembled the big parts and hosed it down with half a can of brake cleaner. After it dripped dry, I hit it with the remaining half.

I reassembled the gun bone dry and dry-fired it 1000 times. Disassemble once more, hose it down with aerosol RemOil, reassemble, done. It's smooth now.

I wouldn't do this with a blued gun, but it was easy and cheap and it needed to be cleaned anyway. Wear eye protection and gloves while spraying.

Nice find! What shop did you get it at? I’m always looking for new gun stores to visit in Sw Washington. Especially ones that do consignments.

East County Guns is the shop in Centralia that I found the sp101, but Man Cave Outfitters and Joe's Sport Shop are also good right here in town.

Altamont makes some handsome grip inserts, in case you're interested in upgrading.
 
Nice. Mine came with some kind of finger grooved smallish grip that felt like it was sized for a young girl or something. Very thin and not comfortable at all.
I bought a stock set like yours but put the fake pearl panels in it. Looks and feels much better now.
 
I own a 2-1/4" DAO SP101 so trigger and hammer springs are important in as they are smooth and functional.
As wankerjake said, Wolff springs are inexpensive and a DIY kind of project. I installed new hammer and trigger springs in mine...found the trigger spring channel to have manufacturing debris (metal chips and curls) that probably somewhat impeded the smoothness of operation. Added hammer shims too while I had it apart. That was several years ago. Has operated glass smooth ever since without so much as a hiccup from the lighter springs.
 
Joe’s has a SP-101 in his consignment case right now but it’s priced somewhere in the 600’s. Good find! I’ve bought a few interesting consignments at East County.
 
Looks nice!

My friend has one just like that, and it has served him well.
