I have a Lee Quick Trim Deluxe that does not deburr the case mouth as it's alleged to do. I do most of my trimming with .223 brass. It in fact leaves quite the burr. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I use my quick trim to make Makarov cases out of Luger hulls....it doesn't de-burr either, I do have a tool that takes care of that problem, simple and quickly.

GMRevolver, to answer that question, I'd need to see your setup. But yes, you probably are because the Quick Trim Deluxe should chamfer and deburr. Mine does with 223. Is the little ball inside it or out of your Quick Trim?

My Deluxe model shed the small blades that chamfer and debur, still works., but I have to manually debur and chamfer...not hard.

I took mine apart, by compressing the blades spring. With a 1/16" punch, gently push out the retaining pin. I stoned a back relief of about 7 degrees to each blade. Paying attention to the cutting direction. This allows for a better cutting action and not the rubbing action they present themselves new.

The retaining pin should be considered fragile. Don't ask me how I know.

I purchased my Deluxe Quick Trim specifically to do 223 brass because it will Trim, chamfer and deburr all in one pass. Reading the directions it explains to take the tool and compress the blades every now and again against something hard to clear the chips out of it. I also keep a tube of white lithium grease on the bench and after every 50 or so I clear the blades and then apply a small amount of grease to the sides and into the grooves of the cutters. Mine cuts clean, quick and consistent as long as I keep it clean and lubed.

Can't speak for the rest of you but I think this is a great little tool and well worth the money. I have 1k pcs of 223 sitting on the bench right now waiting to be trimmed. When I start I will track the time spent from start to finish.

Just a note, the Lee Quick Trim may not work well on a turret that can't be locked in a solid position. I haven't tried it in a turret, as I use the cheap Lee C-press. It's held up to a 5 gallon bucket worth of 5.56 brass.

I get in the habit of swiping off the top of the shell holder to clear shavings. And I keep on hand a paste glue applicator type brush.
