Any 40s&w Fans?

As the title says, are there any other 40s&w fans in here? Anyone carry, reload, and/or shoot it regularly? What do you carry and do you reload?

I didn't really care for it one way on another over 9mm. With $500-$600 40s&w handguns selling NIB in low $300s, I've purchased a few in the caliber and have slowly became a fan.

Please no caliber debates or bashing....
Have a Glock 27 at my bedside table and for Carry and a M&P 5 inch with a nice trigger job and Night Sights. Enjoy Shooting Both as well as I Like the Power of that Caliber. Easy to work with as far as reloading for. Can make nice easy recoil loads as well as Full power defense ammo. What is Not To Like. Probably have More 40 cal. Bullets than any other on hand. Also almost everything except primers reloading wise will work with my 10MM. If I had to go to one caliber for all purposes it would be 40 S&W.

Gen 3s are usually my favorite but I'll try the Gen 4 granted I could actually find one (And for good price)

The Gen4 - was a redesign to mitigate the deficiencies associated w/ stuffin' the .40 into their 9mm platform.

That it also caused the 9mm variety to malfunction and throw brass into the face of the shooter was just an extra.

I wanted a 40 for awhile and i picked up one from PSA...S&W M&P LE tradein pistol just over 300$. I reload for it and have a lot of fun shooting it. Dont like the trigger to much do plan on replacing it. 20210217_151615.jpg

This is one of my .40s. Taurus CT 40 Carbine. Only thing on the down side of it is, it came only with two 10 rd mags. Mags for this thing are unobtainium, as it has been discontinued, and Taurus has no mags. So you have to treet it mildley. I havn't shot it with the red dot yet.
Between this, and my Hi-Point .40 carbine, along with my Ruger SRc.40, I have to keep a supply of ammo.
I like .40 cal.

not a fan at all, but belong to the most .40 S/W shooting club you can imagine. I don't like them for shooting, but do recommend them to anyone wanting a defensive pistol, and consider them to be the best all around defensive pistol round out there. A big benefit is the short OAL means normal ammo is flatpoint, and every firearm in that cal can be expected to reliably feet nearly any profile. Can't say that for .45, and while every 9mm I have shot loved hollowpoints, I hear some don't. The only ammo I have seen on shelves is .40 S/W the last 6 months. The 375 H&H is gone... the 8mm Remmag is gone... the 44-40 is gone, and I bet none of it went to people who needed it. But everyone knows .40, and know they don't need it, unless they do. I think the .40 shooters bought what they needed when LE dumped it a few years ago, making it the most available round now. I think at this point the .40 is now in the hands of loyalist who appreciate it for what it is, and what its good at, and those tend to be people who plan ahead.

Nice price. I have done a couple Apex Tactical trigger kits. They're fairly simple to do. Plus they should have a video on their site. Makes for a smooth trigger.

I was perfectly happy with 9 mm for a long time...
Got my first nine when most cops were still carrying 38's.
But I couldn't resist the cheap police surplus .40's.
I bought this Gen4 G22 in about 99% new condition, complete with night sights, for $279, last year (pre-plandemic).
It quickly became my choice for home defense pistol. IMG_20190515_124550.jpg

Nice thats exactly what i want to do. Glad to hear its not to complicated. Not going to lie i had to have someone show me how to remove slide. The M&P 40 has that little lever you have to flip down. Thanks for the input!

I have a DAO Beretta 96 Centurion that has an amazing trigger pull. I’ll shoot it once in a blue-blue moon.

I carried a S&W 4013 off duty from about 1992 until 2007. I swapped it out for the Glock 19 9mm I was issued when I switched employers.

I shot the 4013,today for the first time in ages.... it took me a few magazines to put it together and shoot a semi-fair 10 yard group with UMC 180 gr FMJ. I must admit the mushy DA/SA trigger pull on that pistol left a LOT to be desired. This group is as good as I could do with the combo:

The .40 S&W has a great balance of capacity, power, size and effectiveness... and it really doesn’t kick a whole lot more than the 9mm in a duty sized gun. (In a small gun the .40 does pack some snap.)

In a defensive situation it certainly will bring a lot to the table and do the job with good shot placement. Even though I don’t shoot the .40 S&W much anymore I respect it’s capabilities and wouldn’t ever feel under gunned carrying one.

Stay safe.

I just purchased a S&W Shield Performance model in .40 cal. Have been pleased with my 9mm Shield for two years, and was always a believer in a .40 as a great CCW.

The Beretta 96A1 was my first purchase. Recoil is a little bit sharper than my 9mm CZ compact, but more than manageable. It's my bedside gun, and a smoother shooter since I put in a D hammer spring and trigger return spring.

This stuff was ~ $18/50 box by the case, delivered...

Cheapest I got it was 13.99 with flat rate shipping. Different box though. Mine is the same 180 grain bonded but in a tan box.

Also bought this around the same time

Might have been $16/50 box, now that I think about it.

That HST/180 gr. is my std. carry load.

Think it was ~ $19/50 box by the case, delivered.

Pays to think ahead...

Lol funny. Im the opposite. My current carry is the bonded ranger just because I ordered that case first. Paid 17 bucks per 50. Then saw it for 13.99. Said "that won't do" and ordered some of that too. And I may have lied. Some of my ranger bonded was a black box. One was tan and one was black. 165 vs 180. Don't recall which. Some was also brass case and some was nickel too. Maybe the non bonded was brass idk. But none of mine was that white box

Then I ordered the hst. Id switch between them with no worries though. I tried it all in probably 6 different .40. No issues and pretty dang close the same poi
