Just wondering, what’s the best way you guys clean your powder measure when changing to a different type of smokeless powder?
I’m leaning on to take it apart and just wipe down details. Would that good enough?

I've never really cleaned mine, I've run dry graphite through it when I initially bought it. But I've never cleaned it between powders outside of taking all the powder out when I am done with that powder.

I turn upside down and dump the powder back in the bottle and then charge cases till the powder bar is empty. Did you like the brass?

I've never cleaned it. If the clear plastic hopper gets dusty I use windex or alcohol. If you are asking about a new hopper I rub them down with dryer sheets.

From time to time I clean with 3M anti static cleaner for electronics seems to help with extruded powders.

Never wipe it, as you'll have to re-season it if you get it clean. I don't like idea of applying fabric softener either, as I've already experienced how dryer sheets gum up tumblers.

I empty the one powder back into it's can, and move on. The light coat of graphite on everything is good preparation for next time.

I've never had a problem with dryer sheets that have been used, which removes the gummy stuff. YMMV

When I change powders I spray canned air into the hopper while holding it upside down.

I can't recall when I last took it apart.

I make sure I have emptied out all the powder. I cycle the measure several times, use an artist brush to sweep out the resevoir and not much else.

Like others have said, I do not want to re-season the measure. My 40 year old Uniflow’s hopper is virtually opaque from the build up of graphite on it.

I’ve never cleaned my powder measures with any solvents or cleaners once they were put in service. Cleaning off any rust preventative before measuring powder can be benificial. Lee Precision recommends running a pound or so of powder through the measure before charging cases. This helps season the inside of the powder measure. It is a good thing to do with all powder measures.

I usually store an anti static dryer sheet in new powder measures when it is not in use. After a while, when the measure is seasoned, this is not as necessary.

Well, thank you all for your input. I decided not to take it apart to wipe down. I will plan to use a small brush and air to remove any possible left over powder.

On my Dillon, I empty the powder feeder completely. Then remove the hopper and funnel. The funnel gets a slight build up of brass from cartridge expansion. I remove the brass build up and run a alcohol qtip through the inside. Back together and done.
