You know what. I'm going to have to verify it tomorrow. I've been busy working with an M&P 40. I have an M&P 9mm and was focusing on barrel interchangeability between a 40 & 9mm.

Being old and set in my opinions the only choice I have to make is what brand of 1911 it is.

I measured it this morning. You are correct, it is a 4.5...... What a difference a 1/4 inch makes...... That's what she said.......

Still, the accuracy on that M&P is awesome. The only thing I have done to it is replace the 12lb trigger with an APEX trigger kit.

As someone that used to hate on the Mark 23 but turned into a huge fan of the Mark 23, it's size and weight is overblown. People will call the Mark 23 huge and heavy yet not bat an eye at a 4" service revolver which is larger and heavier than a Mark 23.

Yes a USP is more convenient to carry but trying both a USP and my Mark 23 made me lose all interest in owning a USP. The Mark 23 is just so much softer to shoot. If you're tall and skinny enough, you can still easily conceal a Mark 23 as I have been doing for a few years now.

Here is my Mark 23 with a Ruger GP100 with a 3" barrel laying on top of it.

I am looking for a .45ACP at a good price, but a very specific kind.
I want a shooter with a metal frame so that it will be heavier. I can take aluminum or steel. For me, the polymer framed guns are usually too light.
I want at least a 3.75 inch barrel and I would prefer it longer and it has to be double action. I can go with a double action/single action or a GLOCK like safe action, but I will not consider the 1911 style cocked and locked safety.

I had a SIG 220 which should have met all these requirements, but it was in fact too light and I found the recoil tiresome.
I have been looking for a BERETTA or STOEGER 8045 Cougar, but have not found one in my price range.
I would buy a RUGER P-90, if I found one in decent shape and a good price. I had one before and my only complaint was the "clunky" feel of the grip. It worked 100% for me.
I even bid on an a long discontinued ASTRA 100, but it went up too high.

S&W steel frame guns like the 645 and later models seem to be running up to collector prices when I see them, which is not often at the gun shops.

So I may be chasing windmills on this.

I ruled out the CZ97 because I cannot find one in my price range. Also, they are "BIG" guns.

I have not shot the BERETTA 8045 yet, but have owned the 8000 and have two 8040 pistols that I shoot fairly often, I like the size and weight of the 8045, which is very close to the 8040.

The RUGER P-90 would do the job and they are closer to my price range, so time will tell.

Very nice 220, that will be my next 45 purchase, as I just bought a Kimber Gold Match II. So need to refill the gun fund for now.

I had a 220 and it was just too light for me to shoot long sessions comfortably. I want a heavier gun for that reason.

Beretta PX4 Storm in .45 ACP with a Beretta competition hammer assembly.

I just got a Springfield .45 XD M.2 Tactical model 14 shot 5" barrel that fits my hand well and shoots really well. I like it a lot. Shoots like my 1911 that I've had for 20+ years.
