Remember when people complained about brands of Primers

Truer words were never spoken. If you keep components cool, dark, and dry they’ll last darn near forever. I loaded and fired some rounds this weekend using a tray of SP primers that still had a price sticker on it for $0.79. Worked fine, lord only knows how long I had em squirreled away.
 
I had really good luck with Wolf and Tula brand primers. When I snagged them for $18 per k shipped I loaded up. I believe that was 2015 or so. I don't recall the exact year.

But I haven't had to buy many primers. Works good for everyone. I don't pay a high price because I don't have a need and that it leaves more for others. Am low on shotgun primers though so I may post in the classified for a trade.

I have a bunch of 209s 9k+ would love to trade
 
Only primer that i had an issue with. Was Winchester LLP. They are supposed to be good for standard and magnum loads. I couldn't get them to burn Blue dot completely in some loads. CCI LMP worked well with blue dot. I don't hate Winchester primers because of it though. I have 2 cases of Federal primers on deck. Large and small rife. Still had not tried them.

That may be true for folks who didn't stock up during sales when manufacturers were trying to sell off surplus...They learned their lesson about not expanding too quickly to a temporary raise in demand.

I'm still only using my preferred Federal SPP in my revolvers and CCI SPP in my pistols. I have enough for a couple of years for practice and competition. I'm currently working a trade of up to 10k LPP for SPP...I don't really care what they paid for theirs, because I know what I paid for mine; that's why trading works for both parties.

I have some Winchester and S&B SPP that picked up that I also use for barter
 
Before the panic I bought Federal, Winchester or CCI SPP's depending on what was in stock and cheapest. They all worked in my guns so I didn't really care. When I find any primers at what I consider affordable now I buy them and I'm accumulating data on which SRP's work in my pistols since the SPP's seem to be the scarcest of all.
 
I still only use CCI for metallic and Win. 209's for shells. That will stay that way until they stop making them. I did use up some Fed. 209's (not 209A) from the 80's I was given, but the Magtechs given to me will stay put until CCI is down for the count.
 
I had a preferred brand of cci but I never talked bad about the other brands. The remmingtons were 4.60 a 100 compared to 2.99 for cci so I never bought them until I saw the writing on the wall and they were all that was in the shelf. Then I bought the 800 spp left and that's basically my on hand supply... beggars not being choosy and all.
 
I bought some Wolf primers years ago. Several thousand at around 12 bucks a thousand. I told a buddy about the guy selling them to see if he wanted any....His response was "I'm not using that Russian junk". Well Sandy Hook happened and he was very short on primers....He asked me if I had any and I said "just that Russian junk". Needless to say he didn't get any from me.
