Recommendation for a guy who hates most automatic pistols?
Stick with revolvers. Why try to force what you don't like?? That is like marrying because you want to please someone else....
As always, lots of good suggestions in this thread, and there are likely a ton of good pistols that will fit the bill, at least on paper. I carried a Glock 19 for about 3 years before moving to a S&W Shield, and I'd make the switch again in a heartbeat. I liked my G19, but the grip was just slightly too fat for me. I find the ergos on the M&Ps and Shields to be much more to my liking, and my Shield has performed flawlessly for about 4 years and ~750-1000 rounds. (I know that's really not that many rounds, but it is what it is.) It's available with a thumb safety, but no decocker. Also, there's no grip safety and it's not available in .357 SIG.....I need a new pistol....I don't like Glocks, for the same reason (no external safety) plus I tend to get slide bite. I have small hands and have to hold pistols high, and glocks are just too low on the barrel. Dislike 1911s too, can't deal with grip safeties. The only other pistol I own right now that I like is a CZ52 but....
So I'm coming here for advice. To clarify my needs/wants:
1. Manual safety, with decocker if possible.
2. Barrel/slide sit high so I can't get slide bite
3. Compact enough for carry
4. Isn't a 1911 or Glock
5. No grip safety....
I'm up for suggestions. I don't particularly have a preferred chambering, I'm rather partial to .357 SIG tbh, but all handgun ammo is scarce right now....

My hands are wide, but my fingers aren't overly long - the SIG P365 fits the bill for me; thicker than the Ruger LCP (WAY too skinny) and nowhere near as fat as a Glock; but it has the same capacity. They now make a version with a manual safety foe those who feel the need for such. The small hands thing is what gets me so I’m having trouble thinking of things for OP to try. I have big hands and I’m trying to think of the pistols I have wanted to try but we’re too small for me. Walther PP comes to mind, but it doesn’t fit the rest of the description. 3rd gen S&W would work but they are heavy by modern standards and are long out of production. I agree with the cz75 suggestion but for truly small hands and a high grip I have my doubts. It’s a shame they never made a Walther p22 or very similar pistol in 380 or 9mm.
The only other pistol I own right now that I like is a CZ52 but despite successfully carrying it there's two issues:
1. It's big
2. Hard to find hollow points in 7.62x25mm

So I got a bit of a confession - I've owned a Kel-Tec P11 for 2 years and I hate it. It jams regularly, despite no specific causality. Sometimes fails to fire perfectly usable ammo (I'll reload a dud into it again and it'll fire fine). And I hate the lack of a manual safety.
I need a new pistol. And I'm impossible to buy for it seems, because I can't find any I like. I don't like Glocks, for the same reason (no external safety) plus I tend to get slide bite. If I can't find one that I'm comfortable with, I'm almost considering giving up on "sidearms" so to speak. Just too much frustration.
