If you look over on castbollits there are a good many guys and gals shooting them. From what I read on cb they are the best made revolver Smith ever made.

It seems in my 30 second Google search getting one is hard to do as there were only 500 models made and it seems buying one from John Ross was an extraordinary difficult endeavor. So who knows how many actuallynsold and are "floating around".

Google says they are amazing is all I can say.

Do not buy from John. If he even still has possession of the 15 year old NOS guns. Lots of threads about bad dealings with him.

I paid half the current bid of that one (currently 2400) about 5 years ago.

250 were made in satin stainless and 250 made in black with satin stainless cylinder.

Half lug 5" barrel with barrel tensioning nut at the muzzle to bring the cylinder gap down to under .003". IT IS NOT a thread protector in place of a muzzle brake. This produces about 200 extra FPS over any other 500sw revolver with 6" barrel.

It is an extremely refined revolver. The trigger in SA is as light as S&W would agree to. It will set off if you breathe on it wrong! DA is a very smooth pull. John certainly had them produce a very very fine revolver. Certainly on par with my 1979 Python and close to the Shooting Master.

It is heavy, but that is welcomed with the might of the 500 cartridge. Its a handful for all but the most seasoned 44 mag shooters at first. I have average to large hands and have no issues with trigger or hammer reach, but with smaller hands YMMV.

Next to an Interarms 7.5" Virginia Dragoon in 44mag.

They are a very interesting and neat rendition of the 500 that was unfortunately tainted by a great number of tales of shenanigans.

I guarantee their value will be double of that bid in not many years to come.

Those who have them are lucky indeed.
