Another Boyd’s stock...

Thanks! I think it was a bit over $160 bucks, but it makes the rifle look like a million.

As much as synthetic stocks are usually lighter in weight, stronger, more weather and impact resistant, etc. I just can’t get over the bland looks...

Stay safe.

The OEM Mattel stocks are silly-puddy if you shoot from field positions.
(Which I do, and use a TechSights Aperture sight as well.)

Must have...

That sounds familiar...and that was one of the stocks I ordered. Sort of. There was a Ruger American Target version that looks about the same as the OP. I took a shout since it was about $100 even. Looks like there will be about a .1" gap on either side of the barrel at the narrowest point. Hopefully the action is exactly the same....

How heavy are those laminate stocks?

I'm tinkering with the idea of picking up a Savage Axis 280AI and dropping it n one of those. Funds and my dislike for heavy rifles are about all that's stopping me.

The website says this stock added about 9 ounces to the weight of the rifle over the factory stock. If you’re looking for a larger stock it may be a bit more.

This style of stock has a bit of a flat on the forearm which makes for a decent rest on bags, plus it has two sling swivels at the front so I could add a bipod and keep the sling as well.

Stay safe.

Curse you. :D Never heard of that section of the site, never bought a Boyd's stock, but have been looking at them for awhile.

Now, somehow, I have 2 Rapid Fire stocks inbound.
SORRY!!!

not sorry:p

It always surprises me how well hidden the rapid fire page is on boyds site.

I've used Boyd's stocks on a bunch of Americans and they end up weighing a bit more than they do from the factory I believe it's less than a pound unless you're talking about the really heavy stocks like the pro varmint.
I suppose some of the earliest generations might be significantly lighter with the factory stock those had far less reinforcement than the newest ones do.

If my gun is shooting good. Before I disassemble the stock bolts,I use my torque driver and slowly work up until I know what it was tightened down to.Then I duplicate when reassembling. I have found that this method works well as some of my rifles are not at their best performance with factory torque specs. Very nice stock Rio,love the Boyds.
Next level stuff right there.

That is what I thought it was. I like it.
Been looking at youtube videos of Boyd stocks for a week already and I think I will be doing one, just haven't decided which model and I like the Nutmeg color and the Pepper. So far narrowed down to the Prairie Hunter, Spike Camp, and the Varmint Thumbhole.

I put the Prairie Hunter on my stainless Axis II 6.5CM. It only added a few ounces weight. It looks and feels great. Axis rifles are a challenge to bed but I bedded mine in, added a steel pillar and a metal trigger guard. To say it is an accurate is not doing it justice. It is also one of the rifles I got from Walmart on DEEP discount and a Savage rebate.

The fit was perfect, it looks factory or better.

And nope.

The target has a different rear vblock/mag release assembly. They are close enough that I can shave .3" from that area of the stock. I'll try to get a target block first though since that would give the stock more "meat" at the mounting bolt

I think this is a reflection of just how great this Forum is.

If anyone ever needed help reducing the amount of cash on hand, THR is there for you!!!

I have personally experienced enabling and heavy handed peer pressure.
They also give you ideas in case you might have been running short on necessary cartridge additions etc.
