How do you carry and where and in what orientation do you carry your knives fitted with a horizontal option sheath? I have never done horizontal carry save for a Case pocket knife but just recently got a new knife and I love it but it has a horizontal sheath (also vertical option). It seems the gentleman builds his sheaths backwards for right hand people if to be carried in the small of the back at center. But it works well at cross draw on my left hip at 10 o'clock. I guess I am a newb with this style carry, thought I wanted it at the center of my back but aside from being uncomfortable there, it is upside down. How do you folks carry your knife in horizontal?

Greetings from another Wichita resident. My favorite fixed blades are by Bob Dozier, and they come in Kydex sheaths. Most of mine are horizontal. I'm right-handed, and I like to attach the sheath to my belt just left of the buckle so it's an easy reach with the right hand. I really like the horizontal sheath, makes bending over easier.

Where does the rest of the belt go? That is what I am running into with left side carry at 10 or 11, my excess belt cannot find a place to be?

Might run the belt "upside down", as it were, to reverse the position of the excess?

I should carry this knife a lot more than I do. Whenever I do carry it, you have the combination. Maybe one pants belt loop to the left, depending on the pants.

Never ever in my entire life have I carried a knife or a gun in the small of my back. I believe you'll be fine with horizontal carry on the left side of your body, depending on how you're built is how far from your belt buckle to put that nice - REALLY NICE - knife in it's nice sheath.

Thanks, I really like my new knife :). My challenge is that I have a 30 inch waist. Same problem with concealed carry, there just ain't a lot of room to tuck things away :(. I guess I could eat more ;).

Way to go Boattale, I have that Dozier as well as others. Congrats, they're great.
My Kydex sheaths have room for the other end of the belt to pass through.

I carry my big Camp Defender knives edge down, butt forward, on my left side. That way I can cross draw with my right hand, or do an inverted draw with my left. It works well.

I have a couple compact Spyderco fixed blades with G Clips, but they become easily dislodged if carried horizontally. Vertical carry seems much more secure.

I made a Kydex sheath for my hunting knife that clips over the left front belt loop of my Wranglers at the hilt and via a lanyard to the right, 3/4th the way down the blade, through the belt, held in place by the beltloop on my right hip.
All on my front and right side: I'm left handed so it would look all assbackwards to most of you because I draw it with my left hand.
It fits on my jeans or on my belt and backpack belt equally well.
I can't find an informative/attractive enough view of it on me to post here so I'll have to leave it to your imagination to fill in the blanks.
