Looking for your pet loads using the Lee 358-125RF mold for 9mm loads. I just ate up 100 primers finding out that 3.8g of w-231 with that bullet hits high. Velocity was a bit low (1030)fps, with the alloy I'm using they drop at about 130g. Just trying to conserve primers in the load development phase. Was kinda going for a soft plinking round, but I'll take more recoil and more accuracy. I also have TG, CFE-P, Bullseye and Unique available. If nothing else, I'll bump these up to 4.0g of 231, but thats getting pretty near the top of the loading data.

I have that bullet mold also. I haven't got around to loading any of them yet, except dummy rounds. They're coated with Hi-Tek.

I'd like to see what others have load too.
I plan on starting with HP-38.

yours are 130gr so a bit heavier but Hodgdon shows 3.9 to 4.4gr W231 w/125 lead

Is the load you have inaccurate or just shooting high? (two different things)

If this is your primary bullet and a range gun you can get a taller front site. An adjustable site like a red dot are also optional... yet another option is to add some more antimony to decrease bullet weight. I would try 3.8-4 grains of tightgroup and see if that changes your results... tons of things to try

Just shoots high, and a little left, very consistently. Groups are good, just not on point on aim, if they were just high, I would just adjust my hold, but I'm thinking they're just too slow and the barrel is moving a bit before they leave the barrel. My 115 Berry's, 115 Everglades and 115 Gold Dots are dead on, but moving 100-200fps faster. I think I'll bump these up to 4.0g 231 and see if that doesn't improve the accuracy. If not, I have another mold for 9mm, I can toss these back in the pot. Thanks for the data:thumbup:

As a side note, for me in 9mm HP38/W231 has always given me decent accuracy, but has never been the best for me in any 9mm load that I have tried yet.
But my .45 just loves it:)

I’ve used that bullet with good results with LongShot and WSF.
Speeding it up will help with the torque (barrel twist causing windage) and elevated impact, (due to greater mass and barrel transit time).

I had excellent results from 5.2 and 5.5gr of LongShot.
Sized to .357” in 9mm, .358” in .38spl.
