I can't find much on the subject. I don't think the time will ever be better to get a state-level AWB case to SCOTUS given the makeup of the court right now. It's tough living in a blue state like Washington, when they push assault weapons bans and magazine capacity limits constantly.

Anyone have a good summary of the situation? Any progress/hope?

It’s worse here in Va where we had tons of fraud and an AG who is so Anti it’s not funny. It’s why we all should have electoral colleges at the state level.

Folks, I'm not hearing a plan of action developing here. What I think the topic is is, now would be a great time for a case on AWB to get to SCOTUS. That's not really Activism since it is a wish instead of how do we get a case to SCOTUS.

I don't think you get a case to SCOTUS without first identifying states with bans.

California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.

SCOTUS has left these bans in place for NY, NJ, & CT. What's currently in the pipeline? SAF has a case against MD. Whether it has a chance of being heard at SCOTUS depends upon whether it makes it through the federal courts and how compelling the argument from SAF that MD's law is unconstitutional. You'll have to track the case.

Here's a piece from Rand Corp on such bans. https://www.rand.org/research/gun-policy/analysis/ban-assault-weapons.html
