I was able to pick up a few powders on my shopping list today. 2lbs of Win231 and 2lbs of Titegroup. That should keep my pee-shooters going for a while. Still on the look out for a rifle powder or two. I only have about 1 1/2 lbs IMR of 4064 left... would love to replace it with IMR 4451 when it comes in stock.

They have IMR4955 in stock... quite a bit slower, more like H4831, but depending on what you want it for, it might work.

If you can afford to be picky, go for it. I am. But I use 3031, H-4350, H-4895, and Varget in my ‘06 with the nod going to Varget and 4350.

When he called them pee-shooters I looked down and thought to myself "be carefull of the big toe"!:p

On the powder note I still have 15 LBS of 30-06 surplus powder from Pats Reloading to use up.

All I use is 3031 in my two bolt action service rifles but I only shoot at steel so I figure the burn rate doesn't matter and less powder means more loads. Around 40 grains using a Lee 3.1 dipper works for me.

3031 is the only rifle powder I use, period. It's definitely not the best choice for every job, but I find that it's good for most (with a little bit of experimentation).

I also exclusively use Universal for handguns. Same thing, master of none, but good enough for all.

Once things simmer down a little, I'd like to experiment a little bit with some other powders. But for the time being, it's nice to only have to worry about having two different powders. It's easy enough to find both occasionally, and both can be stretched pretty far.

Hahaha... “pea” shooter... my bad.

Hodgdon has had powders available both on line and in stores more than the other makers. You might have to wait a month or two for them to run a batch of your favorite. November I got 8lbs of TiteGroup from them. And if I don't see some HS-6 in the local stores in a month or two, I'll order from them.

I wonder if this is because Hodgdon is independent and doesn't make ammo. They do state that their priority is to their wholesale and retail customers first then to their on-line store.
